Week 11 IDP Player to Add – Safety – Camryn Bynum – Minnesota Vikings

Week 11 IDP Players to Watch

Rookie Camryn Bynum was selected in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings in the 4th round out of California. Bynum was drafted as a cornerback, but quickly made the transition to safety. After playing in anywhere from 0% to 9% of the defensive snaps in his first 7 games of his NFL career, Bynum got his 1st start in Week 9. In his first 7 games, Bynum played a total of 9 defensive snaps along with his special teams duties.

In Week 9, Bynum was filling in for Harrison Smith, who was out due to COVID-19. Bynum played 98 snaps which was 100% of the defensive snaps. Bynum blew up the stat sheet with 12 tackles (8 solo), 1 interception, and 1 pass defensed. Last week, in Week 10, Bynum followed with 6 tackles (5 solo), 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 QB hit, and another pass defense.

Rumor has it that the Vikings will find a way to keep Bynum on the field when Smith likely returns this week. The Vikings have no problem playing 3 safeties at a time. It will allow head coach Mike Zimmer to freestyle with Smith and Bynum as Xavier Woods nails down the deep safety position. Another reason to watch and claim Bynum…he might be listed as a cornerback in your league, as he is in MFL! If you are in a league that requires cornerbacks, Bynum is the ultimate cheat code!

Week 11 IDP Player to Add – Defensive End – Dawuane Smoot – Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 11 IDP Players to Watch

Dawuane Smoot is 26 years old and just in his 5th year with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Smoot was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL draft out of Illinois. As a rookie, Smoot played in all 16 games and produced 20 tackles (14 solo), 2 tackles for a loss, and 5 QB hits. In 2018, Smoot was inactive in his first 8 games, and only produced 4 tackles (3 solo), 1 tackle for a loss, and 3 QB hits. 2019 brought Smoot his best sack total thus far in his short career at 6, and he also added 17 tackles (12 solo), 6 tackles for a loss, 7 QB hits, and 1 fumble recovery. Last year, Smoot started to step up even more and gained 7 game starts. Smoot had 25 tackles (21 solo), 5 tackles for a loss, 17 QB hits, 5 1/2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Smoot was starting to make a name for himself, and 2021 has him on pace to set new highs in all categories. Smoot already has 5 game starts in the 9 games played this year, including the last 2 games. Smoot has played a minimum of 46% of the defensive snaps with the maximum of 82% of the defensive snaps 2 weeks ago. Smoot has produced 19 tackles (12 solo), 4 tackles for a loss, 3 1/2 sacks, 10 QB hits, 1 pass defensed, and 1 forced fumble.

With the other defensive end, Josh Allen, having a career year, teams can not double team both ends. They are tending to double Allen, which leaves Smoot easier access to whoever has the ball. It usually takes 3-4 years for a defensive lineman in the NFL to start to be a difference maker. Smoot is in that window and starting to show his potential. You might not want to wait and see how he does this weekend. You might want to claim him now.
