Another week is in the books. That means Week 8 is upon us, as is the Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 8. Only 2 teams have their bye week this week, the Ravens and the Raiders. That wouldn’t affect the top plays too much. One thing that could affect them though is Davante Adams getting a positive COVID test and more than likely out for the Packers game against the Cardinals.

Below I have compiled a list of wide receivers that I believe will have some of the better Week 8 results. Let’s dive in!

Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 8

Cooper Kupp

Cooper Kupp leads the NFL in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He has 56 receptions for 809 yards and 9 scores. His worst game of the season came against Arizona Cardinals, where he had 5 receptions for 64 yards. In all his other games he had at least 7 receptions and 92 yards. Kupp and the Rams will be traveling to Houston to face off against the Texans for their Week 8 matchup. The Texans’ secondary has given up 1820 yards and 12 scores on the season.

Adam Thielen

Adam Thielen has 37 receptions for 393 yards and 5 touchdowns so far this season. The Minnesota Vikings will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys’ secondary has allowed 1867 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns through 6 games. Justin Jefferson might have more receptions and yards than Adam Thielen, but I believe Justin Jefferson will be defended by Teryvon Diggs, Dallas’ best cornerback. That would leave Thielen with the better matchup in what could be considered to be a shoot-out.

AJ Brown

AJ Brown had a slow start to the season, but his last 2 games were very good. Against the Buffalo Bills, he had 7 receptions for 91 yards. Then against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had 8 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown. In Week 8, Brown and the Titans will face off against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts’ secondary is banged up and has given up 1794 yards receiving and 16touchdowns. Opposing defenses will be focused on stopping Derrick Henry, leaving softer coverage on the outside receivers.

DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins’ receiving yards total is down this year. That is because quarterback Kyler Murray is spreading the ball around and trying to get everyone involved. Hopkins has 33 receptions for 420 yards and 7 touchdowns on the season. Hopkins and the undefeated Cardinals will face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The Packers will be without cornerback Jaire Alexander, their best secondary player. Hopkins should have a good game and possibly add to his touchdown total in Week 8.

Ja’Marr Chase

Ja’Marr Chase has 35 receptions for 754 yards and 6 touchdowns. He leads the NFL in yards per catch with an average of 21.5. Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals will visit the New York Jets on Sunday. The Jets have had some success in stopping the pass, allowing just 1751 yards and only 7 touchdowns through 6 games. However, this offense might be a little difficult for the Jets to defend. Besides Chase, Joe Burrow’s favorite target, they have receivers Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins, then tight end CJ Uzomah. Ja’Marr Chase should look to add to his already stunning rookie season on Sunday.

Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill has been puzzling this year, but so has the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. Hill has 2 games with over 186 or more yards receiving, then he has 5 games of 76 yards or less. For the 2021 campaign, Hill has 52 receptions for 641 yards and 5 scores. Hill and the Chiefs will host the New York Giants for Monday Night Football. The Giants have allowed 1798 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns this season. I could see Hill capitalizing on his speed and big-play ability to help the Chiefs rebound and get back on track.

DJ Moore

DJ Moore has 46 receptions for 586 yards and 3 scores. He is able to do so in spite of Sam Darnold’s quarterback play as of late. Moore and the Panthers will head to Atlanta to face the Falcons for a Week 8 matchup. The Falcons have allowed the 8th fewest receiving yards with 1579, however, they have also allowed 15 touchdowns scored, which is tied for 4th most. Look for Carolina to keep getting Moore involved in the passing game and feel confident in starting him, especially in PPR leagues.

Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs 37 receptions for 463 yards and 2 scores. These numbers are a lot lower than last year’s totals for Diggs. Buffalo added Emmanuel Sanders in the offseason and tight end Dawson Knox has played well when active. The Bills will host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Miami has allowed the second most receiving yards with 2181 and are tied for 4th most touchdowns allowed with 15. With Knox out again for Week 8, Diggs should see a bump in targets and hopefully more production.

Courtland Sutton

Courtland Sutton and the Broncos will host the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Washington has allowed the most touchdowns to opposing pass catchers and the 3rd most receiving yards. Sutton is the main target for Teddy Bridgewater. He has 38 receptions for 539 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sutton has 3 games of 94 yards or more and 7 or more catches. The Washington Football Team has allowed over 265 yards passing to each of the last 3 quarterbacks they have faced.

Robert Woods

Robert Woods will not get as much attention from defenders as fellow wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp has been on fire this season, Woods has been turning it on the last couple of weeks, finishing with either a touchdown or 70 or more receiving yard the last 4 games. The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Houston to face the Texans in Week 8. The Texans’ secondary has given up 1820 yards and 12 scores on the season.

Michael Pittman

Michael Pittman has 4 games where he catch 6 or more receptions and 2 games of over 100 yards receiving. Pittman has caught 35 passes for 508 yards and 2 touchdowns through 7 games. The Colts will host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Tennessee has allowed the 6th most receiving yards with 2037 yards and 12 touchdowns. Against the Titans, Pittman averages 5 receptions for 65.7 yards receiving through 3 games. Carson Wentz has been looking his way a decent amount of the time when the Colts have needed a big play, making Pittman a top play.

Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel has 38 receptions for 648 yards and 4 touchdowns. In 4 of Samuel’s 6 games he has amassed 93 or more receiving yards. Deebo Samuel has been targetted at least 8 times in each game as well. With George Kittle out, the Niners will rely on him to help move the ball down the field. The San Francisco 49ers, head to Chicago to face the Bears in Week 8. The Bears’ secondary has allowed 1700 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns through 7 games. The 49ers will look Samuel’s way to help them get back in the winning column after losing 4 games straight.
