JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson – 2022 Dynasty Battle

Heading into 2022, the question of JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson has been a polarizing topic of discussion. Both wide receivers are experiencing a change of scenery and undoubtedly an upgrade at QB for both. JuJu moves from an aged Ben Roethlisberger to the spry Patrick Mahomes, while ARob breaks the yearly chain of Blake Bortles, Mitch Trubisky, Nick Foles and a young Justin Fields, and gets reigning Super Bowl Champion Matt Stafford.

With all of that, @Infamous_IDP & @RotoHeatKraig battled it out in our YouTube video that is above. Here are some other notes.

JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson

The debate of JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson is so polarizing because both players are coming off of down years, but have had absolutely monster years in the past. Which version of each player will show up in 2022 and beyond?

JuJu started off his career hot in 2017 & 2018 combining for 2,343 yards on 169 catches while catching 14 touchdowns. In the past three seasons, he has totaled 1,512 yards on 154 receptions while catching 12 touchdowns.

Allen Robinson is coming off of a 38 reception, 410-yard season, where he only caught one touchdown. This is following two straight seasons with at least 1,147 yards, 98 & 102 receptions, and six & seven touchdowns. While battling injuries, there has also been a lot of talk of being sabotaged by Matt Nagy. We don’t know if that is true, but the volume would say something more than injury was going on.

As Austin mentions in the JuJu Smith-Schuster or Allen Robinson Dynasty Battle video, JuJu has put up the following numbers in his career.

At the beginning of JuJu’s career seemed like we were going to witness one of the next great wide receivers. In 2019 Antonio Brown left the Steelers and JuJu was expected to take up the #1 role in the offense. As we can see that didn’t happen. But he is still only 25-years old, turning 26 in November, so there is still room for improvement heading into what should be the prime of his career.

It also doesn’t hurt that he now moves to an Andy Reed offense captained by none other than Patrick Mahomes. The issue is that instead of JuJu playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle to Tyreek Hill & Travis Kelce, he is now going to be expected to man the WR1 spot yet again. Will he mature and improve, while staying healthy?

He seems to be in a good position to give fantasy managers a top-12 UPSIDE season if ALL goes right, with safe WR2 production. For either of those to happen, we will need to see less concentration on TikToks and more on getting open on the field.

Allen Robinson has been one of the best receivers in the league over the past three seasons, but his production goes back all the way to 2015 while a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He struggled last year, but it was just the first season that he didn’t reach at least 81 targets since his rookie season, when ignoring 2017 when he was injured on his first reception. His stats are pretty good:

Allen Robinson has had some great seasons. His QB history is no secret, so will a move from Chicago to LA, with an upgrade to Matthew Stafford help Allen Robinson bounce back from his porous 2021 season?
