Leonard Fournette was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday morning. The move came as a surprising one, with the NFL season less than 2 weeks away. Over a 3 year span, Fournette rushed for 2631 yards and 17 touchdowns, he had a 4.0 yards per carry average according to Pro Football Reference.

Fournette’s value in the fantasy community may have taken a little hit with the news of being released. However, I could see him signing with a new team quickly as he is just 25 and has improved in the passing game over the last couple of years. Teams such as Tampa Bay, Seattle, and Washington come to mind. Some fantasy owners could over-react and make Fournette very affordable in your league and he could help you out in the long run.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will then enter the season with often injured pass-catching running back Chris Thompson and second-year running back Ryquell Armstead leading the rushing attack. Armstead is the one that would hold the most value, but someone that could break the bank trying to trade for with the news today. The Jaguars could also sign a veteran free agent running back like Devonta Freeman.
