DFS Value Plays are an important part of Daily Fantasy Sports. By finding and capitalizing on value plays a player could build unique lineups and separate themselves from the rest of the players in GPP tournaments. Sometimes value plays could be considered when a player has a low salary and produces 10-15 points to help you build stronger stacks. They could also be considered when a player outperforms their current salary. For example, if a player is listed at $5600 and scores 25-30 points they performed like a player that has a salary of over $7000 for at least $1400 less. I took a look at the main slate for this week and the following players are the ones I am considering as value plays.
*Please note that the Tampa Bay vs Las Vegas game was moved from primetime to a start time of 4:00 eastern game due to some players possibly testing for COVID. The Seattle vs Arizona game has been moved to primetime and all 12 games on Sunday are part of the main slate*
DFS Value Plays: Quarterback
Derek Carr, LV vs TB; DK = $5400
We will need to keep an eye on this eye as mentioned above. However, Derek Carr is set to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Draftkings.com, Tampa Bay has the best defense against quarterbacks so far in 2020. In the first 5 weeks of the season, Derek Carr scored over 22 points in 3 contests. Over the last four games, Carr has thrown 10 touchdowns and just over 1200 yards. The Buccaneers defense has 4 starting players that are questionable as of Thursday, including 2 in the secondary. If Carr’s offensive line doesn’t miss any time, he could be a good DFS value play.
Teddy Bridgewater, Car vs NO; DK = $5800
Teddy Bridgewater is leading the Panthers against his former team, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints defense hasn’t been playing great so far this season. The Saints are 30th against quarterbacks on DraftKings, and the Panthers could be trailing early in this game forcing Bridgewater to throw the ball more. Bridgewater could be apart of a cheap stack with Robbie Anderson and DJ Moore saving some of your salary for a higher-priced target. Bridgewater is also starting to run the ball more as well, 3 of his 6 games he ran for over 26 yards, giving fantasy players another way that he can get you points.
DFS Value Plays: Running Backs
Ronald Jones II, TB @ LV; DK = $6200
$6200 may not seem like a value play, however, since Fournette has missed time, Ronald Jones II has played really well. Over those 3 games, Jones has scored; 21.8, 18.5, and 29.1 points on DraftKings rushing over 100 yards in all 3 contests. The Raiders are 30th against opposing running backs this season and the Buccaneers could use Jones to run out the clock late in the game. Jones was also able to catch at least 2 passes out of the backfield in each game he has played. Even if Fournette returns this week, Jones could end up with the bulk of the snaps and outperform his salary.
Giovani Bernard, Cin vs Cle; DK = $4500
Joe Mixon has missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Browns. If he was to miss time Giovani Bernard would step in and take his place. The Browns are 23rd against running backs this season and the Bengals are going to look to capitalize on it. The Browns have allowed 690 total yards and 7 scores to running backs in 2020. Bernard’s strength is in the passing game as a decent pass-catching option for Joe Burrow. Finding a running back that could see double-digit targets and 10-15 carries for $4500 could really help your fantasy lineup.
DFS Value Plays: Wide Receivers
Mike Williams, LAC vs Jax; DK = $4700
Mike Williams had a great game last week against the Saints. He had 5 receptions for 109 yards and 2 scores. He was able to do this with Keenan Allen leaving the game after catching his 2 targets early in the game. Allen has been limited in practice this week. Chargers rookie quarterback Justin Herbert has 1195 yards over his first 4 games. He also has thrown 7 touchdowns in the last 2 weeks. If Allen misses time that provides less competition for targets and should provide Williams with more targets. Jacksonville is 16th against opposing wide receivers on DraftKings.
Terry McLaurin, Was vs Dal; DK = $5800
The bad news is McLaurin has Kyle Allen throwing the ball to him. The good news is that he and the Washington Football Team will be facing the Dallas Cowboys. Over the first 6 weeks, McLaurin was targetted at least 7 times in each game. He has only found the endzone once and ended up with more than 100 yards receiving twice this season. That should change this week against Dallas. Washington will be looking to get Terry McLaurin the ball early and often against the Cowboys as they don’t have many other weapons on offense. Dallas is 31st against wide receivers, making McLaurin an almost must start at $5800.
DFS Value Plays: Tight End
Dalton Schultz, Dal @ Was; DK = $3900
Dalton Schultz is an interesting value play off of the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott and have made Andy Dalton the starting quarterback, Dalton is not as mobile as Prescott. The offensive line in Dallas is also in shambles, as defenses are putting pressure on Dalton. This is why I think Dalton Schultz could be a decent option. Washington is 31st against opposing tight ends, and Schultz could benefit from all the attention going to Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup. Over the last 5 games, Schultz has recorded at least 4 receptions 4 times. Schultz has recorded 23 receptions for 260 yards and 2 scores on the season.
