3 Defensive Backs you might want to add to your Dynasty Roster today!

If you are like me, you go to all these “players to add” articles (offense and defense), all excited to read about that new hidden gem and…are you kidding me? He’s not available except in the 8-10 team leagues. Most of us play in 12-16 team leagues and need deeper dives! This is where I come in…

I’m here today to bring you a few possible hidden gems that play Defensive Back (Safety/Cornerback) in the NFL that you might not have heard of yet. When choosing a DB to start or roster, look Strong Safety first followed by Slot Cornerback. Free Safety usually plays center field and not many tackles. All Pro Corners usually don’t get thrown at much which means fewer chances for points. Here are 3 Players (2-Safeties and 1-Corner) that you might want to add to your Dynasty Roster today for next year’s run.

1)Jayron Kearse-Safety-Detroit Lions

After serving his 3 game suspension for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy, Jayron started playing in week 4 this year with 14% of the snaps. This 5th year player who was originally a 7th round pick out of Clemson for the Vikings, had a bye in week 5 and then started playing a lot more. Usually about 50 snaps with a low snap percentage of 69% and a high of 97%. He’s averaged 6.5 tackles a week in the last 7 games with a high of 9 and also had 2 games with 8 tackles. Add in a forced fumble and a pass defense and you have a consistent scorer. Jayron will most likely double his best year in Minnesota and has a 1 year contract with the Lions which makes this a contract year for the second year in a row. What does 2021 hold for Jayron?

2)Jarrod Wilson-Safety-Jacksonville Jaguars

This 5th year Safety was undrafted out of Michigan. He is having his best year by far in 2020. He has missed multiple games (4 for injury) and in 9 starts has averaged 5.44 tackles per game. 2 of those 9 starts were cut short by injury. In his last 4 games, he has averaged 7 tackles per game with a high of 9! He also added 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, and 2 pass defensed. 7 out of his 9 games he has had a snap percentage of 85% or better. He is on his 2nd contract with the Jaguars so you have stability there.  You want this player on your 2021 Roster!

3)Tre Herndon-Cornerback-Jacksonville Jaguars

You want this player on your roster now, let alone 2021 and beyond. Especially if you are in a cornerback required league. This 3rd year undrafted player out of Vanderbilt is a football player that likes to hit. He has 63 tackles already for 2020 for an average of 4.85 per game. Out of those 63 tackles, 54 were solo! Add 4 tackles for a loss with 1 sack! Add 5 pass defensed! In my league, that was double digit points in 10 of his 13 games! Double digits in 7 straight games averaging 20+ points per game in my league. Get him Now! Don’t wait until 2021.
