2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds

Welcome to the second to last week of the NFL Regular Season and likely the end of your 2021 fantasy football season. Hopefully you are in line for a championship, but if not hopefully you can still make some money!

Remember to always check your lineups before games start for late-breaking injuries and unexpected starters, and you can find the RotoHeat IDP scoring here.

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers
2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers – Troy Reeder

Troy Reeder, Linebacker, Los Angeles Rams
Ownership: Sleeper 2%, Yahoo 3%

Starter Ernest Jones went out injured last week which left Troy as the main guy in the middle for the Rams. Troy has filled in that role in years past as well as this year when needed, and he will get you tackles. On an 87% snap share in Week 16 he had 6 solos, 1 TFL, and 1 PD. Week 17 brings a game against the Ravens, who are 6th in points allowed to opposing linebackers. Reeder is a great add this week.

Zach Cunningham, Linebacker, Tennessee Titans
Ownership: Sleeper 4%, Yahoo 8%

Brought over after being cut my the Texans, Zach has played in games the past two weeks for Tennessee. He has had a 67% and 73% snap share each week, with a combined line of 8 solos, 2 assists, and 1 TFL. Miami visits Tennessee in Week 17 and the Dolphins are 12th in points allowed to opposing linebackers.

Alex Highsmith, Linebacker, Pittsburgh Steelers
Ownership: Sleeper 2%, Yahoo 3%

The Steelers face the Browns this week, and the Browns have allowed the 9th most sacks this season. Sacks, and tackles for a loss, are where Highsmith gets most of his points for fantasy football. In Week 8 when they faced off he had 1 solos, 3 assists, and 1 TFL; that was also when the Browns had a healthier offensive line. I like his chances to better his prior stat line this week.

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Backs

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Backs
2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Backs – Jaylinn Hawkins

Jaylinn Hawkins, Safety, Atlanta Falcons
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Atlanta faces Buffalo this week and Buffalo is 7th in points allowed to opposing safetys. Starter Erik Harris went out early in Week 14, and from that game on Jaylinn has had a 96% snap share average with totals of 6 solos, 5 assists, and 1 TLF. This is not a huge set of stats, but the opponent is right and so is the playing time and snap share. Jaylinn should be a safe floor with a decent upside for tackles.

Alohi Gilman & Trey Marshall, Safety, Los Angeles Chargers
Ownership for Both: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Starter Nasir Adderley is announced as out for the Week 17 game against Denver, who is 6th in points allowed to opposing safetys. Gilman was just added to the COVID list and Marshall was on there as of a few days ago, but it is not clear at this time if they will remain out for this game. Gilman is my preferred option, but if he is out and Marshall is in I am fine with Marshall. Gilman has had some goods games already this year when needed and Marshall would be a serviceable last man standing type backup if you are seeking a points floor for the week.

MJ Stewart, Cornerback, Cleveland Browns
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

MJ has been back for three weeks now, with snaps shares of 19% (first week back), 100% and 97%. In the two games where he was back at full strength as the third cornerback for the Browns he had the following lines:

Week 15 (vs Las Vegas, 13th against CBs: 8 solos, 3 assists, 1 PD, 1 forced fumble
Week 16 (vs Green Bay, 29th against CBs): 9 solos, 1 assist, 2 TFL

Week 17 brings the Steelers, who are 2nd in points given up to opposing cornerbacks this year. Be aware that the Browns play Monday night though, and make sure you either have a back-up plan in place or known someone else in the game to pickup if needed due to a COVID situation.

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen

2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen
2021 NFL Week 17 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen – Marcus Davenport

Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, New Orleans Saints
Ownership: Sleeper 2%, Yahoo 3%

Hurt much of the year, Davenport has at least 1 sack in 6 of his 9 games this year. After being out Weeks 12 and 13, he had a slow return game in Week 14 (1 assist), but in Weeks 15 and 16 he had at least three combined tackles and one sack. Week 17 brings the Carolina Panthers, who give up the most points to opposing defensive ends.

Carlos Dunlap, Defensive End, Seattle Seahawks
Ownership: Sleeper 2%, Yahoo 5%

After being non-existent in terms of fantasy value much of the season, Carlos has exploded over the past four weeks with 12 solos, 5 TFL, 6 sack, 2 PD, 1 forced fumble and 1 safety. Prior to Week 13 when this started, he only had 8 solos and half a sack. He is getting all this done as a situation pass rusher, with a 31% snap share, so there is a chance for him to disappear again, but I like his chances for another sack here in Week 17 against the Lions (11th in points allowed to defensive ends).

Zach Sieler, Defensive End/Defensive Tackle, Miami Dolphins
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 1%

His designation varies by site, but the Dolphins face the Titans in Week 17, and the Titans are 1st in points allowed to opposing defensive tackles and 4th in points to defensive tackles so it won’t make much of a difference here. Sitting at a 44% snap share it lower than we normally like but Zach is on a hot streak with a sack in each of the last two games and a 76% snap share last week against the Saints. He has a great shot for another good game here in Week 17.
