2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers

2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers
2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers – TJ Edwards

TJ Edwards, Linebacker, Philadelphia Eagles
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 3%

After hitting a high snap share of 41% prior to Week 8, that Week TJ had a 66% snap share and ended with a line of 8 solos, 5 assists, and 2 TFL. Week 9 he had a 97% snap share to go with 5 solos and 7 assists. TJ appears to have taken over lead linebacker duties with Singleton going to the bench and the release of Eric Wilson. Week 10 brings the Broncos who are in 14th points allowed to opposing linebackers, but TJ should have value as long as he is starting, regardless of the match-up.

Jayon Brown, Linebacker, Tennessee Titans
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 3%

Jayon had a 93% snap share in Week 1 and had 5 solos and 2 assists. He playing sparingly in two weeks and did not play in another five games after that. He returned to a 71% snap share in Week 9 and ended with 7 solos. He played well in an upset win over the Rams and appears to be slated for a near full-time role next to David Long Jr in the middle of the Titans defense. Jayon has been a fantasy starter in years past and while the Saints are not a great match-up this week (31st in points allowed to opposing linebackers) Jayon has historically been a great coverage linebacker which helps him stay on the field for passing downs.

Andrew Van Ginkel, Linebacker, Miami Dolphins
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Week 10 for Miami brings the Ravens, who are 10th in points allowed to opposing linebackers. On the year Andrew has a 61% snap share, and while last year he was more of a big play type of player, this year he only has 4 TFL and 1.5 sacks. With 26 solos and 13 assists this year he almost has his 2020 stats beat already (29 solos and 19 assists).

2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Backs – Amani Hooker

Xavier Woods, Safety, Minnesota Vikings
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 9%

Woods has been getting a 100% snap share this entire year as a starter for the Vikings after coming over as a free agent from Dallas. He has had at least 5 combined tackles in six out of eight games this year, and in every game from Week 4 on. Week 10 has the Vikings facing the Chargers, who are 8th in points allowed to opposing safetys. If he is available in your league is a nice quality this week, and a decent play going forward as a safety with a safe floor.

Amani Hooker, Safety, Tennessee Titans
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 6%

Amani was slated to be a starting safety, and primed for a big year, and then he got hurt. He has only played in four games so far this year, but has a 90% snap share in games he has been fully healthy for (he got hurt in Week 1 after playing about half the game).

Week 10 brings the Saints who do not give up a lot of points to opposing safetys (they are dead last actually) but as a player many have forgotten about with being hurt, Hooker is a nice add for the rest of the season as a potential starter for your team.

Brandon Facyson, Cornerback, Las Vegas Raiders
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Brandon starting seeing snaps for the Raiders in Week 6 with a 73% snap share, and followed that up with 100% and 100% their next two games (the Raiders had a Week 8). In those three games he has 14 solos, 5 assists, 5 PD, and 1 INT. The Raiders play the Chiefs in Week 10, and the Chiefs are currently 1st in points allowed to opposing cornerbacks.

2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen

2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen
2021 NFL Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen – Jonathon Cooper

Jonathon Cooper, Outside Linebacker/Edge/Defensive End, Denver Broncos
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

So hear me out on this one, as I know he is a deep cut. Philadelphia (Denver’s Week 10 opponent) does not show up as a good match-up on paper; they are 21st in points allowed to opposing defensive ends. Denver played Dallas in Week 9 and Dallas is 29th in points allowed to opposing defensive ends.

Philadelphia is running a lot more the past two weeks as opposed to how they had been playing prior, which I think makes this a better match-up for Cooper. Who is Cooper? He is a 7th round 2021 draft pick out of Ohio State who won the coaching staff over in the preseason with his high effort and on-field smarts. Head Coach Vic Fangio said that he was making the final roster before final cuts were ready to be made.

Cooper was seeing an increase in snaps before the Von Miller trade and was a nearly full time player after; he was at 11% in Week 5 and 90% in Week 9. He ended Week 9 with 3 solos, 2 assists, 2 TFL, and 2 sacks, and is grading out well according to PFF. I like Cooper as a dynasty add more, but if you have bench room to see if he ends up being the real deal I do think he is worth monitoring and adding if you can in redraft.

Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, New Orleans Saints
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 1%

After a great Week 1 agianst Green Bay (46% snaps, 2 solos, 1 assist, 2 TFL, and 1 sack) Marcus Davenport was on IR for the next four weeks, and out on a bye for a fifth week. He returned in Week 7 and these have been this three games since returning:

Week 7: 63% snaps, 1 assist
Week 8: 66% snaps, 3 solos, 1 TFL
Week 9: 73% snaps, 3 solos, 3 assists, 1 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble

Week 10 brings the Titans who give up the third most points to opposing defensive ends. Daveport is likely available in your league and given how he has played with the Saints trying to compete for a divisional title he may have a decent rest of the season value as well.

Osa Odighizuwa, Defensive Tackle, Dallas Cowboys
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

A 3rd round pick out of UCLA for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft Osa has played between 55% and 74% of snaps each week Dallas has played this year. He has 9 solos, 9 assists, 4 TFL, and 2 sacks on the year, and he has at least two combined tackles in each game this year, excluding Week 1.

In Week 10 Dallas faces the Falcons, who are 2nd in points allowed to defensive tackles currently. For a guy who is free in nearly every league and likely would not require a FAAB bid to obtain this week, I think Osa is a great waiver play for the week in DT/IL required leagues.
