2021 NFL Draft Pick 17: Raiders Select Alex Leatherwood

With the 17th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Alex Leatherwood was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Alex played as a true freshman in 2017 and in 48 games over four years. After his sophomore season, he was on the All-SEC Second Team, and after junior and senior seasons he was on the All-SEC First Team. After 2020, he also won the Outland Trophy, the SEC’s Jacobus Blocking Trophy, and was a Unanimous All-American.

Fantasy Implications

Leatherwood feels like a reach here, I felt he was towards the end of the first round or into the second. Still, I can’t complain about them taking offensive line help. They have one returning offensive lineman (Kolton Miller) from last year, so offensive line was needed. I may not think it was the best player to take here, but it is the right idea and should be an improvement over what was currently planned.
