Bryce Young Dynasty Rookie Profile: NFL

Bryce Young currently projects to be a top-2 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, and very well may go first overall to the Carolina Panthers. If you are playing in a Super Flex league, Young will almost certainly be a top-4 pick in your rookie draft. If your league starts one QB, Young is likely a late first-round selection.

The RotoHeat team has Young in the top 20 in our 2023 Dynasty Rookie Rankings, and in the top-3 in our Dynasty SuperFlex Rookie Rankings 2023. Bryce Young is one of those “Generational Talent” type prospects. He is exceptionally intelligent and it shows in his play. Young sees the field as well as any QB I have ever studied entering the draft. His ability to create something out of nothing is also something to watch. His accuracy is also a strength, especially in the intermediate and short areas of the field. Bryce Young is the most complete quarterback prospect in this 2023 class.

The knock on Young as I am sure everyone reading this is well aware is his size. Listed at 6’0 194lbs (on Alabama’s roster), makes him the first first-round quarterback under 200 pounds since Jim McMahon in 1982. In fact, size wise a better comp for Young may very well be Seneca Wallace. His arm strength isn’t bad, but it could be better and a stronger arm would help offset his size to a certain degree.

I really like what I see when watching Young’s game film. There is a certain “IT” quality that he has that is hard to describe. I am concerned with his size, and potentially his durability, but not enough to avoid adding this talented QB. He is a hard QB to comp, and I keep coming back to Drew Brees. If Young puts up anything close to Brees’ numbers his fantasy managers and the fans of his NFL club will be thrilled.
