Will Fuller V 2020 Dynasty Outlook
The 4-star high school WR, Will Fuller V, decided to take his talents to Penn State before decommiting in order to go to Notre Dame. He spent 3 years playing for the Fighting Irish where he posted 2,512 yards on 144 receptions while scoring 30 TDs. After barely seeing the field his freshman year, he put up back to back 1,000+ yard seasons before declaring for the draft.
With the 21st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select Will Fuller V, WR, Notre Dame.
In his first 4 years as a pro, Fuller showed himself to be a big play threat opposite of former teammate DeAndre Hopkins. Unfortunately, he also missed 22 games during that time. Will has 9 games of over 100 yards, with one of those being a 217 yard and 3 TD game last season. His career is the epitome of boom or bust. With Hopkins gone, will he be “the guy” in Houston?
Through the first 2 games of the 2020 season, he’s caught 8 of 10 targets for 112 yards. All of that coming in Week 1 as he blanked with zero targets in Week 2 playing in 63% of offensive snaps. Some have speculated a possible hamstring injury acting up, but I think that we need to expect the same boom or bust from him this season. Look for him to be a high-end WR3 or low-end WR2 this year.
Will Fuller V Dynasty Outlook – Beyond 2020
Will Fuller V is only 26 years young, but once he hits 28 or 29 we should start to see much more bust than boom out of him. I think he has 2 good seasons of really having a strong fantasy impact before falling off into bye week fill-in status. I wouldn’t see him as anything more than a WR3 for the next couple years though. I don’t see him stepping into that WR1 role in Houston, but he will make a great secondary option there.
He’s very talented, but it will take a lot of consistency to change the mind of most people. If he can prove to do that this season, his outlook beyond 2020 may be brighter than we thought. Let’s hope that’s the case but don’t expect it to be.
According to the RotoHeat team, Will Fuller V’s ADP is #83 overall and #42 among WRs in PPR formats. His value in picks in both 1QB and SuperFlex is the 1.12 or 2.01. I’m not paying any more than a mid 2nd for him.
In 1QB leagues, players comparable in value to Will are David Johnson, Hunter Henry, N’Keal Harry, Noah Fant, Brandin Cooks and Mecole Hardman. You could make a case to trade for all these guys while Johnson and Harry would be the first for me to go after. Johnson is mainly for those in win-now situations, and Harry is proving to be a reliable, trusted target for Cam. I’ll take Fant over Henry due to age and injury history. Cooks and Hardman both have solid upside, but I like Fuller’s target share on a Hopkins-less Texans team most out of the three.
Players with similar value to Fuller in SuperFlex leagues are Teddy Bridgewater, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger, Darius Slayton, Mark Ingram and Derek Carr. Ingram is a guy I’m targeting if I were in a win-now situation. Darius Slayton may be the better option this year and will be for years to come since he’s only 23. I’m going after him all day! When it comes to QBs, I’d target Cam, Derek, Ben and Teddy in that order. Cam is proving to be a QB1 once again in New Engalnd, while Teddy is seemingly underwhelming. Again, if in a QB pinch, I’d take any one of these guys over Fuller.
