Here at RotoHeat, I strive to deliver as much helpful information as I can to help you all have successful individual defensive player rosters and win a couple championships along the way. I am going to give you a couple of Week 14 IDP players to watch this weekend. These guys are lower in the rankings, but are primed to be mainstays on your 2022 Dynasty rosters. Check out my opinions and facts on the following players, and who knows, maybe you will pick them up before this weekend’s games.

Week 14 IDP Player to Watch – DT – Davon Godchaux – New England Patriots

Week 14 IDP Players to Watch
Week 14 IDP Players to Watch

All of the hype at defensive tackle for the New England Patriots is on Christian Barmore, and with good reason. It isn’t very often that you see a rookie defensive tackle have the impact that Barmore has. I’m here to tell you about the other defensive tackle on the Patriots roster. His name is Davon Godchaux. Godchaux has 484 defensive snaps while Barmore has 473 defensive snaps. Godchaux leads Barmore in tackles, assists, sacks, and forced fumbles.

Godchaux was drafted in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. His first 3 years in the league, Godchaux missed just 1 game. He started every game in 2018 and 2019. In his rookie year, Godchaux has 40 tackles (26 solo). His 2019 season brought him 48 tackles (31 solo). 2020 was Godchaux’s best season with 75 tackles (33 solo). Godchaux was becoming a beast on the defensive line and had a combined 11 tackles for a loss, 14 QB hits, 3 sacks, 2 passes defensed, and a forced fumble in his initial 3 years with the Dolphins.

2020 brought a torn biceps for Godchaux during just his 5th game of the season. That also was a factor in the Dolphins not resigning him for this season. The Dolphins loss was the Patriots gain. How good has Godchaux been in 2021? Godchaux has played in all 13 games while starting 12 of them. He has played over 50% of the defensive snaps in 11 of the 13 games. Godchaux has accumulated 48 tackles (25 solo), 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble.

Godchaux just turned 27 years old, so there is still a lot of football life left in him. Godchaux signed a 2 year, $16 million contract, so he is in the Patriots plans for next year at least. If you are in a required defensive tackle league like myself, you could do worse. The Patriots are on bye this week, so you will not be able to watch him this weekend. Just check him out and you will be happy to sign him up.

Week 14 IDP Player to Watch – CB – Darren Hall – Atlanta Falcons

Week 14 IDP Players to Watch

My next Week 14 IDP player to watch is a rookie cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons. Darren Hall was drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons in the 4th round out of San Diego State. Hall seems to be positioning himself for the nickleback of the future with a possibility of moving outside. The nickle is where more points come from with the cornerback position. Especially if they get the slot receiver.

Hall did not play any defensive snaps for the Falcons in his first 4 games. However, nickleback Isaiah Oliver hurt his neck in Week 4 against the Washington Football Team. This gave Hall a chance at nickleback snaps in Week 5 against the New York Jets. Hall responded in his 17 defensive snaps with 3 solo tackles. Oliver came back in Week 6, so Hall went back to the bench until Week 10.

Hall had finally earned some defensive snaps by his work ethic and showing the coaches that he could be trusted. Week 10 got Hall 21 defensive snaps in which he produced 1 solo tackle. Week 11, Hall took full advantage of his 14 defensive snaps and produced 4 tackles (3 solo), 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 QB hit. Hall received even more snaps in Week 12. In his 26 defensive snaps, Hall tallied 3 tackles (2 solo), another tackle for a loss, and a pass defensed.

Week 13 brought in Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hall was watching film of Brady and thinking he was just a baby at that time that Brady got drafted. Hall was a little in awe of Brady, but he is the opponent so the awe goes away pretty fast. In Hall’s most considerable action to date of his young NFL career, Hall played 44 defensive snaps and had 5 tackles (4 solo). Hall is young and eager to earn his spot on the field. Hall would be a great add for your 2022 roster, and maybe even your playoff run this year if you are in a cornerback required league.
