Welcome back! Week 1 is in the books, so it’s time to look for the top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2. As always, I will be looking at game flow, skill, and opponent to find the top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2. Time for us to dive right in.
1Tom Brady, TB vs ATL
Tom Brady is at the top of my list for the second week in a row. When you look at the weapons that Brady is throwing to and the poor Atlanta secondary, it just seems like a great matchup for Tom and company. Last week against Dallas, Brady had 4 passing touchdowns and 379 passing yards and 2 INTs.
2Patrick Mahomes, KC at BAL
Patrick Mahomes has phemonial talent. He has great arm strength, accuracy, mobility, and can read defenses. He will be facing off against a banged-up Baltimore secondary. Against Cleveland, Mahomes threw for 337 yards, threw for 3 scores, and ran 1 in himself. In Week 1, Derek Carr threw for 435 yards and 2 scores against this Ravens defense.
3Aaron Rodgers, GB vs DET
Aaron Rodgers was number 9 on my top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2. He then had a terrible Week 1 against New Orleans. He threw for just 133 yards and 2 INTs. In Week 2, Rodgers and the Packers will host the Lions on Monday Night Football. The Lions gave up 314 passing yards and 1 touchdown to Jimmy Garoppolo. Aaron Rodgers has a lot of weapons and should turn it around against this poor Detroit secondary.
4Justin Herbert, LAC vs DAL
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw for 337 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception on Sunday against the Washington Football Team. The Dallas Cowboys secondary is more quarterback-friendly than Washington’s was last week. Dallas gave up 379 yards and 4 touchdowns to Brady in the opening game of the season.
5Russell Wilson, SEA vs TEN
Russell Wilson threw for 254 yards and 4 scores in a winning effort against the Colts in Week 1. Wilson will have Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf lining up at receiver and Gerald Everett at tight end. Seattle will be hosting a Tennessee defense that was crushed by Kyler Murray and the Cardinals on Sunday.
6Kyler Murray, ARI vs MIN
Speaking of Kyler Murray, he comes in at number 6 of my top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2. He had a great game against the Tennessee Titans last week. He threw for 4 scores, ran for another score, added on 20 yards rushing, and had 289 yards passing. Kyler can make plays both in the air and with his feet. Minnesota should have their hands full trying to contain Murray and this Cardinals offense.
7Dak Prescott, DAL at LAC
Welcome back, Dak Prescott! He threw for 403 yards and 3 scores in the opening game versus Brady and the Buccaneers. The Chargers’ pass defense should be a little more stout than Tampa Bay’s was last week. However, with weapons like CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper, Dak should still put up pretty good numbers.
8Matthew Stafford, LAR at IND
Matthew Stafford showed his new team what he is capable of doing with a decent team around him–no offense, Lions fans. Stafford led the Rams over the Bears and threw for 321 passing yards and 3 scores. The Rams will head to Indianapolis for a Week 2 matchup with the Colts. With receiving options like Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Tyler Higbee and Van Jefferson, you can expect Stafford to have another good game on Sunday.
9Josh Allen, BUF at MIA
Josh Allen and the Bills head down to sunny Miami to face the Dolphins this weekend. Josh Allen had a decent amount of yards against the Steelers defense on Sunday. He had 270 yards passing and 44 yards rushing. The bad thing is he had 1 total touchdown, as the Steelers beat the Bills 23-16. Miami shouldn’t be as tough for Allen to put up number against, and he should be able to help you win your fantasy matchup this weekend.
10Joe Burrow, CIN at CHI
Joe Burrow joins the top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2 at number 10. Burrow had a decent game against the Vikings on Sunday with 261 yards and 2 scores. After watching what Stafford did against the Chicago Bears defense he will be facing on Sunday, Burrow should have the same type of success.
11Lamar Jackson, BAL vs KC
Lamar Jackson can beat you (or help your fantasy team) with his arm and his legs. In Week 1, he rushed for 86 yards and threw for 235 yards. The problem was, much like Josh Allen, is that he only had 1 total touchdown and the Ravens lost in overtime to the Raiders. Kansas City allowed Baker Mayfield to throw for 321 yards against them. While Jackson might not throw for as many yards, he should help make up for that with his feet.
12Matt Ryan, ATL at TB
Matt Ryan is the last of the top 12 quarterback plays for Week 2. He had a poor outing last week against the Eagles, throwing for just 164 yards. With weapons like Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Kyle Pitts, and Hayden Hurst, Matt Ryan should be able to bounce back against the weak Tampa Bay secondary who gave up over 400 yards and 3 scores to Dak Prescott in Week 1.
