Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021

In this article, we are going to cover the Tony Jones fantasy outlook for 2021. We will share where we think he will rank amongst all running backs in 2021. Should you buy, hold or sell? Will Tony Jones be more or less valuable in 2022? Do we think he is going to be a league winner, weekly starter, flex play, spot starter, dark horse or dart throw? Included is all of this as well as personal opinions of the seven people that participated from the RotoHeat staff.

Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021: What Is His Weekly Playability?

Tony Jones appeares to have vaulted into the coveted RB 2 spot on the New Orleans Saints with the release of Latavius Murray today. urray had been the back-up to Alvin Kamara the past two years, and did have playable value in that role. One of us who felt he is a darkhorse said “The RB 2 on a Saints offense is worth rostering. With Murray gone, a path to touches should be possible, although he is behind one of the best all-around backs in the league. A Kamara injury would make the value skyrocket, so it’s a wait and see approach.”

Most that have him as a dart throw or darkhorse really feel that similar, in that he has a chance to have great value as a late round pick or waiver add, but we need to see something in real NFL action in that RB 2 role on the team before we annoint him as the season long back-up.

Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021: More, Same or Less Valuable in 2022 Dynasty Offseason?

Tony Jones currently sits at RB 66 in Fantasy Pros PPR Draft Positional ADP. He is going undrafted in RotoHeat SuperFlex Draft Positional ADP. Almost all of us that discussed Tony Jones today for this article believe he will have higher value in value going in the 2022 dynasty offseason. Most of us believe that he will end the season in the late 30s or high 40s in terms of season long RB value, which is significantly higher than he is now. If he does return that value, he should maintain value until next year’s draft at least.

Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Only one of us are selling Jones right now, while two are buying and three are holding. Those holding want to see what kind of role he ends up having, at at least one manager wanted to hold for now and “try and sell later in the season after he has actually been on the field and shown some production.”

The one person who is selling now simply feels he will not maintain long-term value, and we should be selling now while he has perceived value. Those buying on the other hand feel that he will have real value is the RB 2 on the Saints this year, and very likely next year. After this year he is an Exclusive Rights Free Agent after this year, which means the Saints can give him a one-year minimum offer and he would not be able to negotiate with other teams.

Hold: 3
Buy: 2
Sell: 1

Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021: Where Will He Rank vs. All Running Backs?

The member of the team that is highest on Tony Jones currently said “We know that Kamara isn’t carrying it 20x per game. Jones will get carries and if he gets a little work in the passing game, he could be a weekly flex.” He felt that Jones will end up in the RB 25 – RB 31 range at the end of the year.

Three of us felt he would end up in the RB 37- RB 48 range, with one having him at RB 49+ and one in the RB 32 – RB 36 range.

High: 25
Low: 49+

Tony Jones Fantasy Outlook 2021: Conclusion

Overall the team is has liked what we have seen Tony Jones and we are bullish on him for this season. We see him as the likely RB 2 on a team that will continue to run a lot, and we do not feel that Alvin Kamara will get all of the touches. Seeing what they did with Murray as their RB 2 in the past shows there is a lot of potential for Jones this year to have some fantasy relevancy.
