Welcome back to our Three Kickers to Stream article series for Week 8 of the 2021 season! For those who are unaware, “stream” or “streaming” refers to starting a player in lieu of a regular starter on your fantasy football squad. Usually this is needed by having no other option, whereas one of your players are hurt or on bye. However, sometimes you can may choose to stream a kicker as a general season-long strategy, or if the matchup/situation is better than your regular starter.
Before I get any further, I must say… KICKERS ARE IMPORTANT! Yes, they can be fluky at times. Yes, they typically score about the same amount of points at the end of the season. However, there are some factors that should be looked at on a week to week basis on which kickers to start any given week for your fantasy team. For example, is the game being played in favorable weather, or better yet, in a dome? Is the game going to be high scoring? Does the team typically go for it on 4th down or do they have a more conservative approach? All of these factors should be considered when choosing your weekly kicker.
Each week I will be bringing you the top three kickers to stream in your leagues. The goal of my streams is to identify a positive situation in the current week to help you get that all important “W.”
Say hello to the top kicker stream in Week 8, Tyler Bass! Bass was dropped in a bunch of leagues this past week since the Buffalo Bills were on bye. In fact, he is available in about 40% of ESPN leagues. Now is a great opportunity to get your kicker who will stay in your kicker spot for likely the rest of the year.
On the season, Tyler Bass is 14/15 on field goals and a perfect 21/21 on extra points. His team boasts one of the best offenses in the league and will be a no-brainer start for your teams most weeks. Best yet, in Week 8, Tyler Bass and the Bills have a phenomenal matchup against the Miami Dolphins where Bass is almost guaranteed to put up plenty of points! Get Bass off the wire if he’s available and you can essentially forget about the position for the rest of the season. The only downside is I’ll lose a click on this article weekly!
2. Evan McPherson – Cincinnati Bengals
A look at Three Kickers to Stream Week 8
The next kicker stream for Week 8 is Evan McPherson of the Cincinnati Bengals. Just this past week versus the Baltimore Ravens, McPherson was perfect connecting on a pair of field goals and five extra points.
This week, McPherson and the Bengals head to New York to face-off against the woeful Jets who in Week 7 gave up 54 points against the New England Patriots. Joe Burrow and the rest of the Bengals should be able to move the ball very easily, and as a result, I expect McPherson to have plenty of opportunities to split the up-rights. Start McPherson with confidence in Week 8!
3. Brandon McManus – Denver Broncos
A look at Three Kickers to Stream Week 8
Brandon McManus is the last recommended streamer for Week 8 of our kicker streams. He and the Broncos host the Washington Football Team in what should be a fairly high scoring and competitive game. On the season, McManus is perfect through 7 games. He has converted all twelve FG attempts and all 14 extra point attempts.
Of the three options this week, McManus is the riskiest in my opinion. Heinicke and the Football Team have enough explosiveness to pull ahead and make the field goal game become a non-factor based on game flow. However, I think it is most likely a close game and thus, I believe McManus is a solid streaming kicker for Week 8. Between the three, Bass is preferred, followed by McPherson, and then last, McManus.
