Kenneth Gainwell attended Yazoo County High School in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was a three-year starter at quarterback for the Panthers. During the summer going into his senior season, Gainwell committed to play college football at Memphis over offers from Ole Miss and Tulane.

Gainwell moved from quarterback to running back during summer training camp. As a redshirt freshman, Gainwell was named the Tigers’ starting running back following the departure of Tony Pollard. Gainwell rushed for 1,459 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 52 receptions for 610 yards and 3 more scores in the passing game. He was named the AAC Freshman of the Year and first-team All-AAC. NFL

Many of the staff at RotoHeat.com believe that Kenneth Gainwell’s fantasy football profile is positive. He was a productive running back at Memphis both on the ground and through the air in 2019. His game should translate well to the NFL, possibly being a three down running back. After a productive season in 2019, Gainwell decided to opt-out for the 2020 season, so he should have fresh legs entering the NFL Draft. At 5’11” and 194 pounds, Gainwell has the size to be a good asset in the NFL.
