Fleaflicker: They just made an IDP game changing update!

May 20th, 2020 was a day that quietly flipped the script on IDP fantasy football leagues by making some much-needed changes to IDP designations. Typically, most fantasy sites have the DE and DT positions and players generally are lumped into those two slots (not really based on how they are used within the defense but how the team’s designate the players positions).

Fleaflicker went ahead and set things straight, turning the DE position into an EDR spot (edge rusher) and the DT position into an IL (interior lineman) position. What this does is makes EDR position include outside linebackers in a 3-4 defense (like TJ Watt or Khalil Mack), and the IL spot will include defensive ends in a 3-4 (like Calais Campbell).

Why is this so important you ask? Because the 3-4 defensive end tends to point more like a DT, and the 3-4 linebacker points more like a 4-3 defensive end, so ultimately you’ll see much more balanced scoring in those leagues that have IDP positions. If you’re new to IDP fantasy football, this will greatly improve the value of your typical middle linebackers as well as properly place value on outside linebackers and defensive ends depending on the defense they are being used in (knowing the scheme your IDP players play in will be very helpful).
