The Lions signed running back Adrian Peterson to a one-year deal Sunday, reuniting him with his former offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, Darrell Bevell. The move was first reported by Josina Anderson. The deal is reported to be an 1 year incentive laden deal for $1,050,000.

Peterson (35) is coming off a somewhat successful year in Washington. He rushed for 898 yards (4.3 YPC) and five touchdowns. AD had 634 yards rushing after contact in 2019, 15th best among all RBs.

How he’ll fit in the rotation with second-round pick D’Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson remains to be seen. The Lions kept five running backs on their initial roster: Kerryon Johnson, D’Andre Swift,Ty Johnson, Bo Scarbrough; and fullback Jason Cabinda.

Detroit becomes AD’s 5th team as he enters his 15th season. Peterson sits 5th on the all-time NFL rushing leaders with 14,216 rushing yards, 1053 yards shy of Lions great Barry Sanders.
