There was a whole smattering of opinions to start this off. Four a piece felt he was a darkhorse, four felt he was a weekly starter, and five felt he was a spot starter. These responses really speak to the high variability beyond the top 3-5 tight ends.

Many made mention to how wide open the tight end field is, but some felt this worked against him too. “Gotta see what they do at QB, until then I can’t trust dark horses or dart throws in New Orleans” and “Trautman could find himself in the top 12, but NO hasn’t really used the tight end heavily since Jimmy Graham was playing WR for them” are representative of most of the opinions regarding the current New Orleans’ offensive situation.

One thing we want to cover for all the dynasty managers is whether or not we believe a player will gain value between now and this time next year. The RotoHeat staff consensus was clear on this one: we believe he will have a higher ADP going into next off-season.
There was a lot of “Has really good potential and I believe his value will go up in the future” and “Can pay huge dividends if all goes right.” Given all the upside options at the tight end position right now, most of the team seems to believe that Trautman will end up being one of those that produces.

Only two of the 13 analysts voted for “Sell.” One of them stated neither “Winston nor Hill has shown a ton of love for their TEs in past starts, which leads me to believe that Trautman will be a TD or bust like most other late round TEs” and the other agreed with the sentiment.
Overall the team believed that Trautman will start living up to his third round NFL draft capital, and fits right in at the #15 tight end for the RotoHeat Superflex tight end ranking.

10 of the 13 analysts thought that he would fall somewhere in the 10 to 18 range at the end of the season. None of them felt he would end up higher than that. Even the sole person would felt he would fall in the 25-31 range stated “Not much there in New Orleans so the production should be there.”
There were a lot of “It doesn’t take much to finish in the top 12 at the position” comments, along with comments similar to “Trautman has all the tools but I am at a wait and see point with him before deciding what to do.”

Overall the team believes that Trautman is a hold or buy this year who will have a higher ADP going into next offseason. There is a lot of room for players to make moves into the top 10-15 tight ends, and many believe Trautman can be one of those guys this year.
