NFL Draft Day 2: Most Intriguing Players

Kendre Miller

Kendre Miller lands in what many people consider a great spot on NFL Draft Day 2. Alvin Kamara is 27 years old with legal issues pending for the 2023 season. Jamaal Williams is on a 3 year deal with a potential out in the 2025 season when he will be going into his 30-year-old season. Miller was the first back since 2016 to rush for 1000 yards at TCU. He added 16 receptions for 116 yards, but has the profile to still be a receiver. He has an easy path to fantasy relevance in New Orleans.

Hendon Hooker

Hendon Hooker lands in an incredible spot for dynasty fantasy football on NFL Draft Day 2! He can now heal while learning from Jared Goff and will not be rushed into starting. The supporting cast in Detroit added more weapons in Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta and Jameson Williams will eventually see the field again. While you may have to be patient, Hooker has a clear path to be the starter once he is healed. He has the talent to beat out Goff.

Josh Downs

With the Indianapolis Colts taking Anthony Richardson in the first round, they needed to add another weapon to the passing game. They got someone in Josh Downs who had first-round talent in the third round of NFL Draft Day 2. Michael Pittman is the clear-cut number one wide receiver, but there is an opening for the second receiving option in that offense. Josh Downs has a knack for getting open(just ask his 195 receptions the past two years), and he will be Richardson’s best friend because of that.

Michael Mayer

Tight End 3 off the NFL draft board, but still Tight End 1 in my heart. Mayer goes to an offensive scheme run by Josh McDaniels that LOVES Tight Ends. After Davante Adams, there is a potential opening for Mayer to step in. He will have to compete with Hunter Renfrow from the slot, but with Darren Waller being traded out of town Mayer can be the clear-cut Tight End 1 in Las Vegas. My biggest concern is going to be quarterback play, BUT Jimmy Garopolo has done fine supporting George Kittle in the past as well as a Wide Receiver.

Tyjae Spears

The off-season darling running back lands in an ideal landing spot for dynasty. Derrick Henry has been used like a true workhorse running back for the last three years and is at the age apex for running backs. That means that when he is out of town Tyjae Spears can take over and assume his role.

NFL Draft Day 2: Best Honorable Mention Players

The following are some players that I liked or loved their landing spots. I think they all have a path to fantasy relevance, but have to rely on perfect situations occurring or developing themselves into a better players. Those players are as follows: Jayden Reed, Rashee Rice, Nathaniel Dell, and Jalin Hyatt.

NFL Draft Day 2: Most Disappointing Players

Zach Charbonnet

Why does Pete Carrol hate our dynasty teams? Why does he have the audacity to ruin not one but TWO running backs for fantasy on NFL Draft Day 2. Kenneth Walker showed that he is more than capable of handling a three down role in Seattle last season. I believe this pick will help Walker stay on the field for more games and Charbonnet will be used to help manage that load. Charbonnet could end up in a third down role as the pass catching back, but the volume will likely remain low enough to not be fantasy relevant.

Tank Bigsby

I love this pick for real football. For fantasy football, I absolutely hate it. Travis Etienne played over 60% of snaps last season and was explosive when he touched the ball. I believe that Bigsby will come in to help maintain Etienne’s health throughout the season. This tanks Bigsby’s(see what I did there?) fantasy outlook because he had the talent and opportunity pre-draft to be a three down back. It potentially lowers the ceiling for Etienne as well. I have no idea when to draft Bigsby now.

Marvin Mims

This pick made little sense to me due to the fact that the Broncos have this player on their roster already. The Broncos definitely made the pick to replace KJ Hamler, but Hamler has not been able to stay healthy. The problem is that Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton still exist in this offense. I don’t see Mims being enough of a threat as a route runner to supplant either of them. His path to fantasy relevance is a tough one. Mr. Unliiimited is going to have to hit him on deep balls often which is the one thing he can extremely well. There is a little hope, but I just don’t love the landing spot for the wide receiver on NFL Draft Day 2.

NFL Draft Day 2: Most Disappointing Honorable Mention Players

The following players are honorable mentions for most disappointing players based on their landing spot. These players either had someone at their position drafted before them in THIS draft or have a more difficult path to fantasy relevance, but I could see them potentially breaking out of that. Those players are Tucker Kraft, Darnell Washington, Michael Wilson, and Tre Tucker. Wilson and Tucker were just horrible picks.

Players to watch for Day 3

There are still some intriguing players that could be drafted on Day 3 of the NFL draft. A lot of them are running backs, but there are some wide receivers that have potential. I am excited to see where Sean Tucker, Zach Evans, Dewayne McBride, Roschon Johnson, Israel Abinikanda, AT Perry, Kayshon Boutte, and Rakim Jarrett all get drafted. There are still good enough landing spots for them to be fantasy relevant, but that is harder as a Day 3 NFL draft pick. So hopefully they go early enough.
