Week 2 is sure to bring some as well, and we are here to help you find waiver wire adds in the event you want to improve depth or need a new starter. Let’s go see who we have lined up for you!

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Linebackers

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds – Anthony Walker

Anthony Walker, Linebacker, Cleveland Browns
Ownership: Sleeper 2%, Yahoo 5%

Walker is a name known in mid-to-deep sized IDP leagues, but is often forgotten in the more shallow leagues. He was expected to be the guy in the middle for them this year, and Week 1 showed that to be the case. He had a 95% snap share, with the next closest linebacker (Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah) at 38%.

Walker ended the day with 8 solos and 1 assist, and Week 2 brings the upstart Texans who ran the ball 41 times in Week 1 against Jacksonville. Walker should really be rostered in nearly all IDP formats.

Jordan Hicks, Linebacker, Arizona Cardinals
Ownership: Sleeper 6%, Yahoo 26%

Jordan Hicks had been left for dead by many after Zaven Collins was drafted this year and had been wearing the green dot in preseason games. Week 1 showed a different story though, as Hicks was on the field for 95% of the snaps to Collins’ 34%. Second year, and also starting ILB Isaiah Simmons, was on for 91%. Hicks ended with only 3 solos and 1 assist, but he is worthy of being rostered if he will be on the field anything close to 100% of snaps.

Week 2 brings the Vikings, and Germaine Pratt (6 solos, 2 assists, 1 TFL on a 45% snap share) and Logan Wilson (4 solos and 3 assists on a 87% snap share) both had decent games against the Vikings this past week. Please note, almost a full overtime period occurred in that game.

Christian Kirksey, Linebacker, Houston Texans
Ownership: Sleeper 3%, Yahoo 1%

Christian Kirksey was a popular IDP player with the Browns with over 130 combined tackles in both 2016 and 2017. Injuries have derailed him since then, with seasons of 7, 2 and 11 games the past three years. He signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the Texans this offseason and won a starting spot.

In Week 1 against Jacksonville, he played 100% of the snaps next to Zach Cunningham (who also had 100% snap share). Kirksey ended with 5 solos, 1 assist, 2 TFL, 2 PD and 1 INT. No, he won’t have that stat line every week, but we have seen him be productive based on volume before. After being left for dead in the IDP world by many after the past three seasons, he is a great add right now.

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Backs

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds – Kyle Dugger

Kyle Dugger, Safety, New England Patriots
Ownership: Sleeper 1%, Yahoo 1%

As a 2020 2nd round pick, Dugger is likely owned in most dynasty leagues, but you can tell that overall he still has crazy low ownership.

In Week 1, he played 93% of the defensive snaps, with over half of those in the box. He only gave up 1 catch on 2 targets, in 27 coverage snaps. He ended the day with 6 solos, 1 assist and 1 TFL. He looks to be in line for a huge workload this year and is used all over the field. I love him in dynasty and redraft.

L’Jarius Sneed, Cornerback/Safety, Kansas City Chiefs
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 3%

I had talked up Sneed this offseason, but as you can see he is still going widely undrafted. His position varies by platform, as some have him at safety and some at cornerback. Yes, Tyrann Mathieu was out, but Sneed had a great start to last year before getting hurt and came back strong to end the year.

Sneed had a 100% snap share and ended with 7 solos, which was tied for the team high in Week 1. The Chiefs face the Ravens in Week 2, and even if the Honey Badger is back, Sneed is going to have a role and a great shot to maintain fantasy relevancy.

Taron Johnson, Cornerback, Buffalo Bills
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Starting at cornerback on a team with Tre’Davious is a good position to be in. Taron had been talked up over the end of last year and this offseason, and he did not disappoint to start the year. No, he won’t lead the team in tackles each week, but 7 solos and 2 PD from a cornerback is nothing to sneeze at. The Bills play the Dolphins in Week 2, and if Week 1 is any indication, there will be plenty of passing in that game too. With a 100% snap share in Week 1, he is a must grab in CB required leagues and can be looked at in DB leagues as well.

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds: Defensive Linemen

2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds
2021 NFL Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire Adds – Rasheem Green

Rasheem Green, Defensive End, Seattle Seahawks
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 8%

A 2018 third round pick out of USC, Green’s best season was in 2019 when he started 8 of 16 games, ending with 15 solos, 12 assists, 3 TFL and 4 sacks.

Green ended up playing the most snaps of the Seattle defensive line in Week 1 (70%), and he had a very nice 3 solo, 1 assist, 2 PD, 1 TFL and 1 sack performance. Week 2 will bring the Tennesee Titans, who just gave up loads of pressure to the Cardinals in Week 1 (6 sacks and 9 QB hits).

John Franklin-Myers, Defensive End, New York Jets
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

After spending his first three years with the Rams, the Jets signed Jonathan in free agency to a four year, nearly $3 million deal this offseason. In Week 1 against the Panthers, he was the defensive linemen on the field the most for the Jets at a 69% snap share. In that time he had 2 solos, 1 assist, 2 TFL and 1 sack.

Week 2 will bring the Patriots, which will be a tougher match-up than the Panthers; the Patriots gave up no sacks but had 9 QB hits in Week 1 against the Dolphins. That said, being on the field as much as he was shows the coaching staff has faith in him, and the main focus for the defensive line will continue to be on Quinnen Williams. He is worth an add and hold to see how things go.

Larry Ogunjobi, Defensive Tackle, Cincinnati Bengals
Ownership: Sleeper 0%, Yahoo 0%

Larry is a name many of us IDP folks know from his time in Cleveland; he had two very nice seasons with them in 2018 and 2019.

He signed as a free agent with the Bengals this offseason, and against a poor Minnesota Vikings offensive line he had 4 solos, 2 assists, 2 TFL and 1 sack on a 71% snap share; that was the highest of any DT or NT on the team. Much of the focus will continue to be on Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson which will give Larry a chance to continue to shine when then Bengals play the Bears, a team who gave up a ton of pressure in a Week 1 loss to the Rams.
