We asked the RotoHeat community about some Week 3 start or sit matchups that they had a question about. The RotoHeat team then voted to see whom they would rather start or sit in the matchup. Here are the results of those matchups.
*Disclaimer: Start and Sit results are subject to change due to injury reports and other factors leading up to game time.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 1: Adam Theilen or Melvin Gordon
Adam Thielen was the player that the RotoHeat team decided to start in this matchup. He received 8 votes to Melvin Gordon getting just 3. Gorgon wil be playing against Tampa Bay, which has had a decent defense against the run the last couple of years. Thielen will be playing Tennessee and could be playing from behind, making the Vikings throw the ball more and getting Adam Thielen more targets.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 2: Stefon Diggs, Robert Woods, Diontae Johnson or Terry McLaurin
Stefon Diggs received 8 votes, Robert Woods got 5 votes and Johnson had 1 vote, McLaurin didn’t get a vote. McLaurin plays Cleveland this week, however he hasn’t been on the same page as quarterback Dwayne Haskins so far. Johnson and the Steelers will play Houston and could end up playing with a lead for most of the game. Diggs’ and Woods’ teams are playing each other this week as the Rams head to Buffalo. Diggs should draw Ramsey a lot which is why I perferred Woods. Diggs has been the more consistent player this season though, catching at least 8 passes in each game.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 3: Leonard Fournette or Marvin Jones
The RotoHeat team would rather go with Leonard Fournette over Marvin Jones in this matchup. Kenny Golladay is a gametime decision, which could effect how many targets and snaps Marvon Jones could see. Fournette appeared to find his footing with Tampa rushing 12 times for 103 yards and 2 scores. This performance could be what pushes Fournette to the top of the running back depth chart in Tampa.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 4: Tyler Boyd or DeAndre Swift
Tyler Boyd won this matchup for us 13-0. DeAndre Swift is a good player and will be better over time, however, at this moment we all liked Boyd better. Swift is going to be facing the Arizona Cardinals and has Kerryon Johnson and Adrian Peterson getting carries. Boyd will face an Eagles secondary that will be focused on AJ Green and the Bangals could be playing catch up.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 5: Hayden Hurst or Drew Sample
Hayden Hurst and the Falcons will face the Bears this week and Drew Sample and the Bengals will play the Eagles. The RotoHeat team would rather start Hurst this week over Sample with a vote of 9-4. Drew Sample has really had one stand out game, which was last week against the Cleveland Browns. Hurst has shown potential over the last couple of seasons and is now the starting tight end for Atlanta. Both tight ends will face a lot of competition for targets, the RotoHeat team trusts Hurst a little more.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 6: Joe Burrow or Deshaun Watson
Burrow will lead the Bengals against the Eagles and Watson will lead the Texans against the Steelers. The team was split on this matchup 6-6. Watson is the more trustworthy and experienced quarterback, but he faces the tougher defense. Burrow is more of a gamble, because he is a rookie and playing on a worse team. This week both quarterbacks might have to bring their teams back to win in the fourth quarter.
Week 3 Start or Sit Question 7: Marvin Jones or Will Fuller
Marvin Jones is the player the RotoHeat team choose to start in this matchup with a vote of 8-6. Will Fuller is going to be Watson’s number 1 receiver against Pittsburgh. The problem for me is Pittsburgh’s secondary is really good. Marvin Jones could see some extra targets if Kenny Golladay misses another game this week. Detroit could really heavily on the passing game in this one and Jones should benefit.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 8: TY Hilton, Robby Anderson or Jarvis Landry
TY Hilton received 9 votes, Robby Anderson had 4 votes and Landry didn’t receive a vote. Landry is a decent option but the team didn’t trust his quarterback Baker Mayfield and his performance so far this year hasn’t been strong. Hilton plays a bad Jets team on Sunday. The bad thing about that is the Colts could end up ahead early and abandon the pass. The Panthers will face the Chargers, without star running back Christian McCaffrey and could really heavily on the pass. However, the Panthers have DJ Moore, Curtis Samuel and Ian Thomas to compete with Anderson for targets. While Hilton is the main receiver for Philip Rivers.
Week 3 Start or Sit Matchup 9: Mark Andrews or Dallas Goedert
Mark Andrews faces a Chiefs defense on Monday night, while Dallas Goedert will compete against the Bengals defense. The Bengals defense might not be as tough for Goedert to score on, but the RotoHeat team would rather start Mark Andrews this week over Dallas Goedert with a vote of 12-1. Andrews has been pretty consistent since joining the Ravens and been Lamar Jackson’s favorite target. Goedert has been less consistent than Andrews and has Zach Ertz to compete with for targets at the tight end position.
