Travis Etienne attended Jennings High School in Jennings, Louisiana. In his high school career, he had 8,864 total yards with 115 total touchdowns. He was rated as a four-star recruit and the 2017 247Sports No. 15 rated running back. He committed to Clemson University after de-committing from Texas A&M. Turning down offers from LSU, Texas, the University of Miami among others.
As a freshman in 2017, Etienne led the team in rushing with 766 yards on 107 carries with 13 touchdowns. In 2018, Etienne rushed for 1,659 yards and 24 touchdowns. He concluded his 2019 Junior season with 1,614 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. Etienne was also involved in the passing game at Clemson, He gathered 102 receptions for 1155 yards and 8 touchdowns over the last four years. He is the first Clemson player to win consecutive (2018/2019), ACC Player of the Year awards since 1977.
While at Clemson, Etienne played with some of the top talent in college football. He had Trevor Lawrence at quarterback and one of the best offensive lines. Defenses had to worry about stopping Lawrence so Etienne didn’t face too many stacked boxes. From there, his offensive line was able to dominate most of the opponents defensive line and opened up some pretty big holes for him to run through.
Despite being expected to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft, Etienne announced that he would be returning to Clemson for his senior season. Travis Etienne will enter the NFL, as the FBS record holder for touchdowns and the ACC career rushing record holder.
Travis Etienne can help his NFL team in numerous ways. He can be the pass-catching option out of the backfield, provide a quick burst to the outside, and even return kicks. While at Clemson, he returned 32 kickoffs for 706 yards and 1 punt for 44 yards.
Travis Etienne has a fantasy football profile that is uncertain. He is a smaller running back that has good speed when in the open field. Most of the RotoHeat team believes that Etienne lacks vision when the line doesn’t open up the holes for him. His pass protection issues could also prevent him from being a 3 down running back at the NFL level. This could limit his opportunities to produce for your fantasy team.
