Top 3 1QB Rookies on the Rise in February

We are already a month into the new year, and with a new month, comes freshly updated dynasty rookie rankings for February. As you would expect, updated rankings mean some players have moved up the board and others have moved down. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the top three risers of the month.

Israel Abanikanda, RB, Pittsburgh

The biggest mover this month is the running back, Israel Abanikanda out of Pittsburgh. As a former track athlete, Abanikanda shows incredible speed despite his size (215 pounds). He also runs hard and displays good vision and balance.

His big-play ability should make him attractive for NFL teams, as should his production in 2022 where he broke out for 1431 rushing yards and 20 TDs on 239 carries. He added 12 receptions for 146 yards and a single TD.

Among the 1QB rookies on the rise in February, Abanikanda moved up 7 spots overall from 43 overall to 36 overall.

Tank Bigsby, RB, Auburn

Another running back who has been moving up the board among the 1QB rookies on the rise in February is Tank Bigsby from Auburn. He is moving up 5 spots from 13 overall to 8 overall.

Bigsby is not a home-run hitter, but he does have the ability to get chunk plays due to his one-cut running style and his ability to explode through the whole. Tank Bigsby also possesses great balance, which makes him great at breaking tackles, and rarely getting stopped for a loss of yards.

Furthermore, Bigsby has shown an ability to consistently produce at the college level. This makes it likely that he can do so at the NFL level too. In 2022, Bigsby didn’t touch the ball nearly as much as he did in 2021 but still had some solid production. He ran the ball 179 times for 970 yards (5.4 YPC) and 10 touchdowns. He also had 30 receptions for 180 yards. As a sophomore, in 2021, Bigsby had 1,099 yards and 10 TDs on 223 carries as well as 21 receptions for 184 yards. This proves that Bigsby can catch the ball and be a part of the passing game, although he doesn’t display the softest hands on tape.

Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA

The last player in our Top 3 of 1QB rookies on the rise in February is another running back: Zach Charbonnet. Back before the 2021 season, Charbonnet transferred from the University of Michigan to UCLA. By the looks of things, that was a great decision, as he was finally able to see ample playing time and opportunity.

In back-to-back seasons at UCLA, Zach Charbonnet has been able to put up great production, racking up 202 carries, 1,137 rushing yards (5.6 YPC), 13 touchdowns to go with 24 receptions for 197 yards in 2021 as well as 195 carries 1,359 rushing yards (7 YPC), 14 touchdowns and 37 receptions for 321. Especially the 2022 campaign has shown what Charbonnet can do, and he should be an RB to keep an eye on. He could very well continue to rise in the rookie rankings.

Zach Charbonnet is a well-rounded back who plays physically and has good vision and patience to go with a no-nonsense North-South running style.
