Another week is in the books. That means Week 9 is around the corner and the Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 9 is ready for you to read. There hasn’t been a lot of big news this week about wide receivers. The Saints Michael Thomas isn’t going to return this season due to the injury he opted not to get fixed until late in the offseason. Green Bay’s Davante Adams just returned to practice on Thursday, however his quarterback Aaron Rodgers is now on the COVID list and will miss Sunday’s contest versus the Chiefs. I didn’t include Adams this week because of Rodgers being out and there are a lot of good matchups this week.

Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 9

Deebo Samuel vs ARI

Samuel min Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 9

This will be the second time that Deebo Samuel and the 49ers face off against the Arizona Cardianls. In the first contest, Samuel was held to juet 3 receptions for 58 yards, he did run for a touchdown. San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was out for that game. Through 7 games this season, Deebo Samuel has 44 receptions for 819 yards and 4 scores. The Cardinals’ secondary has given up 1712 yards and 11 scores through the air. Samuel has little competition for targets in San Francisco and should do well on Sunday.

Cooper Kupp vs TEN

Cooper Kupp leads the NFL in receiving yards with 924 and receiving touchdowns with 10, he also has 63 receptions. Cooper Kupp has gelled really well with Matthew Stafford since Stafford has arrived from Detriot. The Rams like to throw the ball, even when they have a lead in the fourth quarter. Kupp normally benefits from that. The Rams will host the Titans for a Week 9 clash in LA. The Titans secondary has given up the 5th most passing yards to opponents (2268) and are tied for the sixth most passing touchdowns given up with 15.

Justin Jefferson vs BALT

Justin Jefferson is coming off his lowest output of the season against Dallas. He caught only 2 passes for 21 yards. Jefferson has had 4 games where he has caught over 80 yards this season, and only 2 of those games he went over 100 yards. Viking fans are waiting for him to have another huge game. The Ravens will come to Minnesota on Sunday to face the Vikings. The Ravens secondary has allowed 2186 yards and 12 touchdowns to opponents through 7 games. This game should be where Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson get back on the same page, making Jefferson a top wide receiver play.

Tyreek Hill vs GB

Tyreek Hill leads the NFL in receptions with 64. He also has 735 yards and 6 scores. The Chiefs offense has been a little off this season compared to the last couple that Mahomes has been under center. They have been running the ball less and Mahomes can’t seem to connect with tight end Travis Kelce. The Green Bay Packers will be coming to town on Sunday for a Week 9 contest. The Packers secondary has been banged up as they are missing Jaire Alexander. I would expect Hill to have another decent game against a Green Bay defense that has allowed 1883 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Diontae Johnson vs CHI (MNF)

top 12 wide receiver plays for Week 9

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be hosting the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. The Steelers will be without wide receiver JuJu Smith Schuster and haven’t been able to run the ball will despite the emergence of rookie Najee Harris. Diontae Johnson should benefit from both factors. Johnson has 40 receptions for 474 yards and 3 touchdowns in 6 games. Even more impressive is that according to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Johnson has not dropped a pass this year. Chicago’s defense has allowed 2022 yards and 14 touchdowns in the air this season.

Stefon Diggs at JAX

Stefon Diggs had his fewest amount of yards in a game on Sunday versus the Miami Dolphins with just 40, he did catch a touchdown though. For the season, Diggs has caught 42 passes for 503 yards and 3 touchdowns through 7 games. The Buffalo Bills will be traveling to Jacksonville in Week 9. The Jaguars secondary has allowed 2029 yards and 11 scores this season. I would look for quarterback Josh Allen to get Stefon Diggs involved in the offense and try to get back on the same page against Jacksonville. Making him a top wide receiver play.

Ja’Marr Chase vs CLE

Ja’Marr Chase is the favorite to win offensive rookie of the year. He has caught 38 passes for 786 yards and 7 touchdowns through 8 games. The Bengals will host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, for a AFC North Rivalry game. The Browns have allowed 1915 yards and 17 touchdowns though the air to opponents. The Bengals have 3 solid wide receivers in Chase, Tyler Boyd and second year player Tee Higgins. Quarterback Joe Burrow has played with Ja’Marr Chase in college and appears to be his favorite target in the pros.

Amari Cooper vs DEN

Amari Cooper is coming off a big game against the VIkings. He caught 8 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Giving him 38 receptions for 495 yards and 5 scores in 2021. Opposing defenses not only need to worry about Cooper but second year standout CeeDee Lamb as well. The Cowboys will host the Denver Broncos in Week 9. The Broncos secondary has given up 1924 yards and 9 scores through the air in 8 games. I would expect Dallas to use Cooper and Lamb to open up the offense and spread the field against the Broncos.

Michael Pittman vs NYJ (TNF)

Pittman min Top 12 Wide Receiver Plays for Week 9

Michael Pittman had one of his better outings on Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans. He had 10 receptions for 86 yards and 2 scores. Bring him up to 45 catches for 594 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2021. Pittman has at least 6 receptions in 5 of his 8 games. The Colts will host the New York Jets on Thursday. The Jets have given up 2056 yards and 10 scores in 7 games. To avoid defenses crowding the box to stop Jonathan Taylor, Carson Wentz will need to connect with Pittman to keep the Jets defense honest.

AJ Brown at LAR

The Tennessee Titans won’t have Derrick Henry for a while. To move the ball and compete in against the LA Rams in Week 9, I would expect Ryan Tannehill to look AJ Brown’s direction. He has 25 receptions in the last 3 games and at least 91 yards in each contest. The Rams defense has surrendered 2308 yards and 9 scores through the air. The Rams will more than likely have Jalen Ramsey on Brown during the contest, but Tannehill will still look to his favorite playmaker in this contest.

Marquise Brown vs MIN

Marquise Brown is close to passing his career highs in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in a season. He has 37 receptions for 566 yards and 6 touchdowns. His career highs are 58 receptions for 769 yards and 8 touchdowns. In Week 9, the Ravens will host the Minnesota Vikings, who just gave up 8 receptions for 122 yards and a score to Amari Cooper in Week 8. The Vikings’ secondary has allowed 1884 yards and 9 touchdowns in 7 games during the 2021 campaign. I would look for Lamar Jackson to get Brown involved in the offense early to help the running game.

Mike Williams at PHI

Mike Williams is a highly debated fantasy player. The Chargers’ 7 games he has 4 games with 7 or more receptions at least 81 yards and a touchdown. In the other 3 games, he has 2 or less catches and less then 27 yards with no touchdowns. In Week 9 the Chargers will head across country to face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have given up 1888 yards and 14 touchdowns through the air. 2 of the games that Williams didn’t catch more than 2 passes were losses for the Chargers. Look for Justin Herbert to throw to Williams to re-establish him as a top wide receiver play against this questionable Eagles defense.
