Hello and welcome back! Week 8 is in the books, and the Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 9 are here for you. This week, 4 teams have their bye: Detriot, Tampa Bay, Seattle, and Washington. That means no Tom Brady this week, and we might get a returning Russell Wilson next week as he had the pin removed from his finger recently. We saw another injury last week, as Saints quarterback Jameis Winston went down with an ACL injury. Hopefully, Taysom Hill will be ready for their contest this week against Atlanta. While Hill is not one of the top quarterback plays for this week, let’s take a look at who is!

Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 9

Josh Allen at JAX

Josh Allen sits on top of the top quarterback plays for this week. The Buffalo Bills quarterback has 10 total touchdowns on the season with 17 passing and 3 rushing touchdowns. He also has 269 yards on the ground and 1,972 passing yards through 7 games. The Bills will travel South to Jacksonville on Sunday to face the Jaguars. Jacksonville has been good against the pass this year, allowing just 1,947 yards and 11 touchdowns passing. Allen has a lot of receiving options including Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Gabriel Davis, and when healthy, tight end Dawson Knox.

Aaron Rodgers at KC

For some, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers pulled off an upset in Week 8 against the previously undefeated Arizona Cardinals. The Packers were missing wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, as both were on the COVID list. The reigning NFL MVP has thrown for 17 touchdowns and 1,894 yards. Green Bay will head to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Chiefs secondary has allowed 15 touchdowns and 2,158 yards passing to opposing offenses through the first 8 games of the year. Look for Rodgers to have another solid performance, especially if Adams and Lazard are playing.

Matthew Stafford vs TEN

Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense have been playing extremely well so far this season. Stafford has 2,477 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions leading the Rams to a 7-1 record. In their one loss, the Rams scored 20 points, while in their victories the Rams haven’t scored less than 26. The Tennessee Titans will be coming to town on Sunday for a Week 9 matchup. The Titans’ secondary has allowed 15 touchdowns and 2,139 yards to opposing offenses. Stafford has wide receivers Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, and tight end Tyler Higbee as some of the weapons at his disposal.

Lamar Jackson vs MIN

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are coming off their bye week in Week 8. The former MVP has 1,943 passing yards and 10 touchdowns through the air. He is on pace to beat his personal passing yard total from his MVP season. Jackson also has 480 yards rushing and 2 more scores. 12 total touchdowns for Jackson might be surprising at this point of the season, but he still has time to turn that around. The Ravens will host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. The Vikings’ secondary has allowed 9 touchdowns and 1,723 yards passing to opponents through 7 games.

Patrick Mahomes vs GB

The Chiefs will host the Green Bay Packers for a Week 9 matchup on Sunday. The Packers have allowed 1,734 yards and 14 scores through the air. Mahomes has tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill as his main receiving options.

Kirk Cousins at BALT

Kirk Cousins has two of the more dominant wide receivers in the NFL to throw to in Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson. Cousins has thrown for 1,953 yards and 14 scores through the Vikings first 7 games of the year. He also boasts a league leading 0.7% interception rate. The Vikings will travel to Baltimore to face off against the Ravens for a Week 9 matchup. Baltimore’s secondary has allowed 12 touchdowns and 2,073 yards through the their first 7 games. Besides Jefferson and Thielen, Cousins will have running back Dalvin Cook as a target in the passing game.

Kyler Murray at SF

Kyler Murray had one of his worst performances of the year last Thursday against the Packers. He threw for 274 yards but did not throw for a touchdown, had 2 interceptions, and had a quarterback rating of 67.0. On the season, Murray has 2,276 yards and 17 passing touchdowns to go along with 147 yards and 3 scores on the ground. The Cardinals will head to San Francisco for a Week 5 rematch where the Cardinals won 17-10. The 49ers have allowed 11 touchdowns and 1,378 yards passing to opposing quarterbacks.

Jalen Hurts vs LAC

Jalen Hurts had one of his worst passing performances against the Lions on Sunday when he threw for just 103 yards. He did, however, run for 71 yards, although he was not able to score a touchdown in the 44-6 blowout. Through 8 games, Hurts has thrown for 1,819 yards and 10 scores, while rushing for 432 yards and 5 scores. The Eagles will host the Chargers in Week 9. The Chargers have allowed 1,422 yards and 9 scores passing to opponents. Jalen Hurts has been known to put up decent fantasy points during garbage time, normally while the Eagles are playing from behind.

Tua Tagovailoa vs HOU

Tua Tagovailoa missed 3 games due to an injury earlier this year. He was also in the middle of the DeShaun Watson trade speculation. Now that Watson will be staying in Houston and Tua will be stay put in Miami, Tua and the Dolphins will be hosting the Watson-less Texans on Sunday. Tua has 1,040 yards and 7 scores on the season, and he also has 62 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. The Houston Texans have allowed 2,026 yards passing and 15 touchdowns to opposing teams through he air this season, including just giving up 305 yards and 3 touchdowns to Matthew Stafford and the Rams.

Davis Mills at MIA

Davis Mills has struggled at points during his rookie season. He has thrown for 1,357 yards and 7 scores in 6 starts. Last week, however, he had 310 yards and 2 scores passing against a solid Rams defense. That feat marked the second time he surpassed the 300 yard passing mark in a game this season, with the other time being versus New England. The Dolphins have allowed 2,329 yards and 17 touchdowns passing in the air to opponents.

Mike White vs IND (TNF)

Mike White had a really good outing in his first start against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. He threw for 405 yards and 3 scores against a solid Bengals defense. White was able to step in for fellow rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, who was injured a couple of weeks ago. Mike White and the Jets will host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9’s Thursday Night game. The Colts have allowed 19 touchdowns and 1,949 yards to opposing quarterbacks.

Ryan Tannehill at LAR

Ryan Tannehill has had more of a quiet year up until the last week or two. Regardless, the Titans were winning by handing the ball off to Derrick Henry. Now that Derrick Henry is going to be missing some time, the Titans will need to rely on Ryan Tannehill and the receivers more to move the ball down the field. Tannehill has 2,002 yards and 10 scores on the season, but also has 3 touchdowns for 165 yards rushing. The Titans will be visiting L.A. to take on the Rams in a Week 9 contest. The Rams have given up 9 touchdowns and 2,113 yards to opposing quarterbacks this season.
