Hello and welcome to the Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 7. For this week we will be figuring out the top plays by looking at the defensive matchups, dodging any bye weeks or injuries, and looking at the talent around the quarterback. We have a lot of huge names who will be out this week, whether by injury like Russell Wilson, situations I won’t dive into here such as Deshaun Watson, or due to byes like Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins, Big Ben, and Trevor Lawrence. But enough about them, let’s talk about some of the players that will be playing football this weekend.

Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 7

Aaron Rodgers, GB vs WAS

Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,436 yards and 12 scores through the first 6 weeks of the season. Rodgers is averaging 31 passing attempts per game for 239.3 yards and 2 passing touchdowns. The Washington Football Team heads to Green Bay this week to face the reigning MVP and the Packers. Washington’s defense is last in the NFL in yards and touchdowns allowed through the air. The only bad thing is if Green Bay gets up by multiple scores in the second half they could end up running the ball and not having Rodgers throw as much.

Patrick Mahomes, KC at TEN

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL. Pairing Mahomes with Kelce and Hill is a lot for defenses to handle if the offensive line can hold up. Mahomes is on pace to get his 4th straight 4,000 yard passing season and has thrown for over 300 yards passing in 3 games already this year. The NFL leader in touchdown passes and the Chiefs will head to Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday. The Titans’ defense has given up the 9th most yards and are tied for 9th for giving up the most touchdowns passing. This Week 7 matchup could be the one to watch on Sunday.

Matthew Stafford, LAR vs DET

I could see some fans saying that this is a revenge game for Matthew Stafford, but why? Stafford has a better defense in LA and has already won as many if not more games in the first 6 weeks than 5 of his 12 seasons in Detroit. Stafford is throwing for 306.3 yards per game and has 16 touchdowns for the 2021 campaign so far. Stafford is also averaging 33.3 attempts per game, which could be bad news for the Lions’ defense. They have only allowed the 13th worst yards allowed and 9th worst in touchdowns allowed passing in 2021.

Tom Brady, TB vs CHI

Tom Brady leads the NFL in attempts, completions, and yards passing. He is averaging 44.5 attempts and 344 yards passing a game. He has thrown for 379 or more yards in 3 of the first 6 games. He also has thrown for 4 or more touchdowns in 3 games as well. Brady has a decent amount of weapons to target in the Tampa Bay offense. In Week 7, Brady and the Bucs will face off against the Chicago Bears in Florida. The Bears’ defense has allowed just 10 touchdowns and 1,312 yards through the air through the first 6 weeks.

Jackson min Top 12 quarterback plays for Week 7
Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 7 5

Lamar Jackson, BALT vs CIN

Cincinnati’s defense has allowed just 6 touchdowns through the air and 1,443 yards through the first 6 weeks of the season. Lamar Jackson has one more total touchdown (11), 9 passing and 2 rushing, than turnovers (10). Despite the turnovers and 5 games where he threw for just 1 touchdown, Jackson has 2 games where he threw for over 300 yards and has rushed for over 50 yards in 5 of 6 contests. In 6 games against the Bengals, Jackson is averaging 150 yards passing for 1.3 touchdowns and 0.5 interceptions.

Joe Burrow, CIN at BALT

Lamar Jackson’s counterpart for the Week 7 contest is Bengals’ second-year quarterback Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow is throwing an average of 29 times a game this season while compiling 14 touchdowns and 1,540 yards through the air. Burrow is a big reason why the Bengals have started 4-2. Baltimore’s secondary has done a good job in bending and not breaking through the first part of the season, allowing just 9 TDs but giving up 1,664 yards through the air. The 1,664 yards given up is tied for 7th worst in the NFL. This game could be a fantasy shootout and starting either of these 2 QBs could be the way to go.

Kyler Murray, ARI vs HOU

Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals are undefeated so far in the 2021 season. Murray has 17 total touchdowns (14 through the air, 3 on the ground) and a league-leading 73.8% completion percentage. He has 3 games where he has thrown for 3 or more touchdowns and only 2 games where he didn’t throw for 268 yards or more. One of Murray’s favorite targets, DeAndre Hopkins’, former team heads to Arizona for the Week 7 game on Sunday. The Texans have been decent on defense, allowing just 9 scores and 1,499 yards through the air. In a lot of those games, their opponents have had a big lead, however, and could have been running out the clock.

Winston min Top 12 quarterback plays for Week 7
Top 12 Quarterback Plays for Week 7 6

Jameis Winston, NO at SEA

Jameis Winston and the 3-2 New Orleans Saints are coming off their bye week. Jameis doesn’t have as many passing yards as the rest of the quarterbacks on this list, and he doesn’t have a game where he has thrown for 280 yards yet. However, he does have a game where he threw for 4 touchdowns and another game where he threw for 5. The Seattle Seahawks’ secondary has given up the 5th most passing yards in the NFL but only 10 touchdowns in the 2021 season.

Sam Darnold, CAR at NYG

Sam Darnold has thrown for 1,573 yards and 7 touchdowns through his first 6 games. His career-highs are 3,024 yards and 19 scores, both in 2019 when he played just 13 games with the New York Jets. In Week 7, Darnold will be headed back to the Meadowlands to face that other team near the Big Apple in the Giants. The Giants have allowed 14 touchdowns, which is 3rd worst in the NFL and 1,585 yards through the air. The Panthers have one of the best wide receivers in D.J. Moore. Sam Darnold also has 5 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 7 passing touchdowns.

Jalen Hurts, PHi at LV

Jalen Hurts is a quarterback that can run the ball as well. He has 5 rushing touchdowns, 4 of which came in the last 2 weeks, and 300 yards rushing. Through the air, he has 1,480 yards and 8 touchdowns. Hurts has turned the ball over 8 times heading into his Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have only given up 9 touchdowns and 1,336 yards through the air so far this season, but Hurts’ playmaking ability with his legs is why he is a top quarterback play this week.

Derek Carr, LV vs PHI

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles’ secondary has given up the 8th most touchdowns with 12 through 6 games, however, they have only given up 1,271 yards. Derek Carr has 1,946 yards and 10 scores on the year. He has thrown for over 300 yards 4 times this season and has 2 scores in 5 of the 6 games. The other game he didn’t throw a touchdown, but that was the week the team had a huge distraction with Jon Gruden. Against the Eagles, Carr should be able to throw for over 300 yards and at least 2 scores.

Ryan Tannehill, TEN vs KC

Ryan Tannehill has his highest yards per game total since 2015 with 244.5 yards per game. He only has 6 touchdowns this season, however. A lot of that could be contributed to wide receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown missing time to injury, along with former tight end Jonnu Smith in free agency. Tannehill and the Titans will host the Kansas City Chiefs for a Week 7 contest. The Kansas City Chiefs have given up 1,664 yards and 11 touchdowns in the first 6 weeks. The Titans will need Tannehill to throw the ball more to help take pressure off of running back Derrick Henry.
