Streaming is a fantasy football strategy that fantasy managers use when they don’t have starter on their rosters that they trust entering any particular week during the fantasy season. For those that participate in leagues with the kicker position and defense/special teams (DST), this is a fairly common practice. Streaming, however, is not limited to the kicker and DST. At times, fantasy managers can employ this tactic for any of the skilled player positions. Streaming requires league managers to manage their roster and make waiver wire moves weekly.
Matchups are a driving force behind streaming at all positions, and TE is no exception. If you waited until late in your draft to acquire a TE, or dislike a certain matchup, then streaming may very well be your best bet. Each week I will bring you my top 3 weekly streamers at the TE position. The goal is to identify a positive matchup for you to exploit, and as always, win your fantasy matchup. Let’s dive in to Three Tight Ends to Stream – Week 3!
Pat Freiermuth Vs. CIN
Pat Freiermuth has had more receiving yards than Eric Ebron in both of Pittsburgh’s contests in 2021 despite being listed as the number 2 tight end on the depth chart. Freiermuth received a lot of buzz in the dynasty community due to his playmaking ability and 2nd round draft capital.
Fellow Steeler Diontae Johnson injured his knee on the final play in Week 2. We are not sure of the severity of the injury just yet, but if Johnson were to miss any time, Freiermuth’s ability to create space underneath may grant him some additional looks in Week 3.
Maxx Williams at JAC
After seeing only 1 target in the Cardinals’ Week 1 matchup against the Titans, Maxx Williams shredded the Minnesota defense for 7 receptions for 94 yards on 7 targets. Like most tight ends, Maxx will be very boom or bust throughout the 2021 NFL Season. I like streaming Williams in Week 2 because he is tied to Kyler Murray and that Cardinals offense.
The Jacksonville Jaguars surrendered 8 receptions, 57 yards, and a touchdown to the tight end position in Week 2. Let’s stream Maxx Williams in Week 3 and see if he can build off the Broncos’ success against Jacksonville in Week 2.
Harrison Bryant vs. CHI
Harrison Bryant finished Week 2 with a 19% target share in the Browns’ matchup against the Texans. Bryant may be listed as the number 3 tight end on the depth chart in Cleveland, but the Browns are using a three tight end approach in their game plan. Bryant, Njoku, and Hooper are consistently on the field due to Cleveland’s run first mentality.
A case can be made for David Njoku to be used as a streamer at the tight end position this week as well, but with Bryant being the superior blocker, I like his chances to be on the field in goal-to-go situations. This makes a potential touchdown easier to foresee.
