Three Quarterbacks to Stream Week 6
Welcome back to our Three Quarterbacks to Stream article series for Week 6 of the 2021 season! For those who are unaware, “stream” or “streaming” refers to starting a player in lieu of a regular starter on your fantasy football squad. Usually this is needed by having no other option, whereas one of your players are hurt or on bye. However, sometimes you may choose to stream a quarterback as a general season-long strategy or if the matchup/situation is better than your regular starter.
Especially in 1QB leagues, quarterbacks are streamed relatively frequently because each manager in a fantasy league only needs to start one QB, and generally half of said teams only roster a backup. This generally leaves a number of good quarterbacks available on waiver wires for managers to pick up in a pinch or when a matchup is almost “too good to be true!”
Each week I will be bringing you the top three quarterbacks to stream in your leagues. The goal of these articles is to identify a positive matchup in the current week to help you get that all important “W.”
1. Taylor Heinicke – Washington Football Team
It’s quite honestly a tough “QB stream week” for a couple reasons. There are some tough matchups in general, and it’s also the start of bye weeks, which play a factor as well. With that said, I still have some good starts if you’re in a bind this week!
If you’ve read this article all season, then you know Taylor Heinicke has been on our list several times for QB streams. He was recommended last week, but he did not meet our expectations. He only threw for 248 yards, two picks, and did not score on the day. While the effort was disappointing to say the least, I still expect a solid rebound game in Week 6.
This week, Heinicke and his Washington Football Team face off against the high-flying Kansas City Chiefs. We all know KC will put up points, and so there is a reasonably high expectation to see Heinicke have to put up points in order to stay in the game. If you’re in a QB pinch, it is safe to overlook his poor Week 5 performance and start Heinicke this week in your lineups. He should be lighting up the fantasy scoreboards yet again in no time.
2. Justin Fields – Chicago Bears
The next QB on the list for QB streams in Week 6 is rookie QB Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears. After a few up and down games for Fields, he is finally starting to settle down and show why he was selected in the first round of this past NFL draft. Last week against the Raiders in Las Vegas, Fields threw for 111 yards and 1 TD. The volume wasn’t needed for a high passing affair, but even still, Fields played well and did not make many mistakes.
This week, I anticipate Justin Fields to have his breakout game. He and the Bears play at home against the Green Bay Packers in one of the most anticipated games this coming week. Aaron Rodgers will probably be able to put up points pretty easily against the Bears, and thus, Fields will have plenty of opportunities to respond to try to keep the Bears in the game.
3. Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars
While the last two recommendations are good, I believe this last recommendation is the best of the bunch and will hit it out of the park. That’s why I am saving the best for last for the readers who click through the whole article this week!
Rookie QB Trevor “T-Law” Lawrence is our man for the best Week 6 QB stream. This past week against the Tennessee Titans, Lawrence threw for 273 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 INT. He also ran in an additional TD, and was inches away from running in a second. Even though his team lost the game, Lawrence proved in this game he could command the offense and could at least lead fantasy teams to victory.
In Week 6, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars host the 1-4 Miami Dolphins. I expect T-Law to have a breakout performance and prove to everyone why he was selected 1.01 in the NFL Draft and a countless number of superflex rookie fantasy drafts this past offseason. The Miami Dolphins have not been nearly as good on defense as many were expecting. Lawrence should be able to distribute the ball easily this next week. Start T-LAW with confidence on your fantasy rosters and get that “W!”
