Three Kickers to Stream Week 6
Welcome back to our Three Kickers to Stream article series for Week 6 of the 2021 season! For those who are unaware, “stream” or “streaming” refers to starting a player in lieu of a regular starter on your fantasy football squad. Usually this is needed by having no other option, whereas one of your players are hurt or on bye. However, sometimes you can may choose to stream a kicker as a general season-long strategy, or if the matchup/situation is better than your regular starter.
Before I get any further, I must say… KICKERS ARE IMPORTANT! Yes, they can be fluky at times. Yes, they typically score about the same amount of points at the end of the season. However, there are some factors that should be looked at on a week to week basis on which kickers to start any given week for your fantasy team. For example, is the game being played in favorable weather, or better yet, in a dome? Is the game going to be high scoring? Does the team typically go for it on 4th down or do they have a more conservative approach? All of these factors should be considered when choosing your weekly kicker.
Each week I will be bringing you the top three kickers to stream in your leagues. The goal of my streams is to identify a positive situation in the current week to help you get that all important “W.”
1. Matt Prater – Arizona Cardinals
The first kicker stream for Week 6 is “The Man in Black”, Matt Prater (see above). This past week, Prater and the Cardinals faced off against the 49ers and notched another victory to remain the last undefeated team of the 2021 season. Prater did miss a very long field goal attempt, but otherwise was perfect on the day.
This week, the Arizona Cardinals play against the Cleveland Browns who just put up over 40 points in Week 5. This game should be one of the highest scoring games of the week, which will lead to a lot of anticipated scoring opportunities for Matt Prater. He has been relatively solid this season, and I expect that to continue especially this week against the Browns.
2. Dustin Hopkins – Washington Football Team
The next kicker stream for Week 6 is Dustin Hopkins of the Washington Football Team. So far in 2021, The “Other DHop” has made 10 of 11 field goals and has converted 9 of 11 of his extra point attempts. In Week 5, Hopkins made 3 of 3 field goal attempts and also converted his extra point opportunity as well.
This week, Dustin Hopkins and the Washington Football Team face off against the Kansas City Chiefs. I expect the game to be high scoring, and if Washington can keep it close enough I expect plenty of opportunities for Hopkins to get some points. Of all three options this week, he is the most risky, but he does offer plenty of upside as a result. Start Hopkins if you like to gamble!
3. Greg Joseph – Minnesota Vikings
Greg Joseph of the Minnesota Vikings is the last man up for our Week 6 kicker streams. On the year, he has made 10 of 12 FG attempts and 10/11 extra point attempts. Of his 10 field goals made, five of them were from 50+ yards out, and he has made all five of them to boot! (See what I did there).
This week, the Vikings head to Carolina to face Sam Darnold and the Panthers. The Panthers have been strong on defense, but I expect the Vikings to be able to move the ball well enough to at least get into field goal range. Greg Joseph has earned a spot on rosters rest of season, and as a result, I have him as the best streaming option this week for Kickers league-wide.
