Three Kickers to Stream Week 17

Welcome back to our Three Kickers to Stream article series for Week 17 of the 2021 season! For those who are unaware, “stream” or “streaming” refers to starting a player in lieu of a regular starter on your fantasy football squad. Usually this is needed by having no other option, whereas one of your players are hurt or on bye. However, sometimes you can may choose to stream a kicker as a general season-long strategy, or if the matchup/situation is better than your regular starter.

Before I get any further, I must say… KICKERS ARE IMPORTANT! Yes, they can be fluky at times. Yes, they typically score about the same amount of points at the end of the season. However, there are some factors that should be looked at on a week to week basis on which kickers to start any given week for your fantasy team. For example, is the game being played in favorable weather, or better yet, in a dome? Is the game going to be high scoring? Does the team typically go for it on 4th down or do they have a more conservative approach? All of these factors should be considered when choosing your weekly kicker.

Each week I will be bringing you the top three kickers to stream in your leagues. The goal of my streams is to identify a positive situation in the current week to help you get that all important “W.”

1. Robbie Gould – San Francisco 49ers

Congratulations on making it to Week 17 of the fantasy playoffs! We are back yet again to make sure you start your team off with some great footing as you get ready to prepare for your fantasy matchup(s)!

The first recommended kicking streamer this week is Robbie Gould of the San Francisco 49ers. Gould was also recommended last week and had a solid outing. He was perfect on the day, nailing a 48 yard FG, and he also made both of his extra point kicks. This week, I expect Gould to have a great game against the Houston Texans. The 49ers have to win, and I expect them to pile on points left and right. Gould should end the fantasy season very strong!

2. Evan McPherson – Cincinnati Bengals

The next kicker stream for Week 17 is Evan McPherson of the Cincinnati Bengals. This past week, McPherson kicked very well for his team, making two of three FGs and all five extra point attempts.

This week, the Bengals host the Kansas City Chiefs in what should be a very high scoring and competitive game. I expect McPherson to get plenty of opportunities to kick the ball through the uprights. McPherson has the upside to put up one of the best fantasy kicking scores of the fantasy championship week. Start him with confidence!

3. Dustin Hopkins – Los Angeles Chargers

The moment you’ve all been waiting for… the kicker stream of the week (TWO TIMES IN A ROW) – Dustin Hopkins! This past week, Hopkins took advantage of his incredible matchup against the Texans and shined, hitting all three of his FG attempts including one from 50 yards out.

On the season, this puts Hopkins at 15 of 16 FGs made and 23 of 25 extra point attempts made. This week, the Chargers host the Broncos in what should be a relatively competitive game. The Chargers will be looking to bounce back after their tough loss, and I expect them to lean on Hopkins in getting points on the board whenever possible. Grab Hopkins for Week 17 and don’t look back! Best of luck in the playoffs!
