As we welcome the new year and turn the page from 2022 to 2023, it’s time to reveal the big movers in our latest superflex rookie rankings. Among these rankings, several players have made noteworthy improvements. In this article, we’ll delve into the top three risers of the month.

This article won’t include players that were added to the ranks after declaring for the draft over the past couple of weeks. I am also leaving Kenny McIntosh out of this article as you can read about him in the 1QB rookie risers article that dropped yesterday.

Once all declarations are made, we will include “new” players to the rankings in our monthly “Top 3 Risers” series.

Superflex Rookie Rankings: Top 3 Risers in January 4

Taking a look at the RotoHeat 2023 SuperFlex Rookie Rankings from the month of December, we can see that Marvin Mims has made the most movement of any player from the December rankings to the January rankings. He has moved up from the 22nd overall ranked player in December to the 19th overall ranked player in January.

Despite losing one of the best college quarterbacks in the nation (Caleb Williams, now a Heisman Trophy winner) in 2022, Marvin Mims put up a very good season.

Mims put up 54 receptions for 1083 yards, averaging over 20 yards per catch. He also scored 6 touchdowns.

Quentin Johnston, Wide Receiver – TCU

Superflex Rookie Rankings: Quentin Johnston
Superflex Rookie Rankings: Top 3 Risers in January 5

On the last day of 2022, Quentin Johnston put up a massive performance in the CFP Semifinal, where Johnston helped take his team to the Championship game. He caught 6 passes for 163 yards, including a shallow crosser route that he took to the house for a 76-yard touchdown.

Before the big game, Quentin Johnston’s 2022 season stats are 59 receptions for 1,066 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Johnston was ranked as the 7th overall player in our December SuperFlex rookie rankings but has since then moved up two spots, to be the 5th overall ranked player for SuperFlex leagues. He has moved from the WR2 to the WR1 in our rankings as well, all on the back of a strong finish to his 2022 campaign, which still has one more game left. Johnston could very well remain the WR1 from now until the 2023 NFL Draft.

Zachary Evans, RB, Ole Miss

Zach Evans NFL Scouting Report scaled min Superflex rookie rankings
Superflex Rookie Rankings: Top 3 Risers in January 6

Zachary Evans is one of the players who finds himself higher on the 2023 rookie rankings for January than he did in December. He moved up from the 11th overall player to the 10th ranked player. He also moved up from the RB4 to RB3, in the most recent rankings.

Evans was never a player who received a lot of touches, like some of the other running backs entering the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2022, Zach Evans had 144 rushes for 936 yards, 12 receptions for 199 yards, and a total of 10 touchdowns. He has shown excellent efficiency and a knack for finding the endzone. Both are qualities that should make him a good back at the NFL level, although he might not end up being a featured back at the next level.
