Start or Sit These Players on Sunday to Win Week 7 Fantasy

Not all weeks are created equally. We started off this season’s version of bye weeks a week ago, and Week 7 is the byepocalypse.

With that said, I am here to do what I can to help you find viable starters with my start/sit recommendations for the Sunday match-ups. The goal is to aid you in setting the best roster possible and to assist you with your tough decisions each week. Often the recommendations here will be weekly flex plays.

Each and every week this season, I will give you my “Start of the Week” along with two “Start” recommendations and two “Sit” recommendations at each skilled player position. So without further ado, let’s take the first step towards your Week 7 victory.

1. Start of the Week

Davante Adams – Green Bay Packers

As we enter week 7, Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams sits at WR3 averaging 20.8 PPR points a game. WR3 is great, 20.8 points per game is rock solid, but this is Davante Adams we are talking about.

We have yet to see the big 30+ points fantasy explosion from Adams a total that we have seen him reach 12 times in the past 4 seasons. During last season, Adams topped 33 points four times and 40 points on three occasions.

Week 7, the Green Bay Packers host the Washington Football Team. Entering the 2021 season the general consensus was the the WFT had a rock solid defense. After 6 weeks of action, it appears the consensus got it wrong. Thru 6 weeks The Football Team is allowing 423 yards per game, (31st), 309 passing yards, (31st0, and 31 points per game, (32nd).

In terms of fantasy points allowed, Washington has given up 281.7 PPR points to the opposing wide receivers, a whopping 46.9 points per game. When looking at the Packers roster, combined with this matchup, Davante Adams leaps off the page.

Adams is my start of the week and, I am looking for a line of 9 catches, 170 yards, and a pair of scores.

2. Quarterback

Start

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers

With Davante Adams being my Start of the Week, its natural that his QB is going to have to have good game. Like his star WR, Aaron Rodgers isn’t having the season he had a year ago. Rodgers has failed to hit the 20 point plateau in three of the Packers first six contests this season.

Regardless of that stat, Rodgers is a slam-dunk starting QB in all formats this week. A noted above in regards to Davante Adams, the Football Team defense has been very giving this season. The Football Team has allowed five different quarterbacks to score 24-plus points this season, including four who have scored more than 26 fantasy points. This one has an over/under at 49 and the Packers have a 28.5 implied team total. I like both to go over and I love Aaron Rodgers as a fantasy QB this week.

Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee Titans

Ryan Tannehill has not been the fantasy QB that you thought you were getting when you drafted him this season. After six weeks he is sitting at QB19 averaging 16.66 points per game. In 2020 Tannehill was a top-7 QB averaging 21.90 points a game. Week 7, is the week that Ryan Tannehill resembles his 2020 self.

The Titans will try to slow this game and win it on the back of Derrick Henry. The Chiefs knowing their defense stinks will try to score early and often. At some point (likely the second half), Tannehill and the Titans are going to have to push the ball downfield and score. Here is the good news, Kansas City has allowed four quarterbacks to score 28-plus fantasy points this season, including three who have put up over 30 points. After six weeks, only Washington allows more fantasy points to the opposing QB. Fire up Ryan Tannehill this week.

Sit

Carson Wentz – Indianapolis Colts

Carson Wentz really? Yes really. I know that Wentz is looking better and that he has thrown for multiple touchdowns in three straight games, but he’s not scoring enough fantasy points to gain a starting spot in your lineup. Despite the multiple TD passes, Wentz in QB13 over the past three weeks and has topped 20 fantasy points only once.

This week Wentz and the Colts travel all the way to the left coast to face the San Francisco 49ers. San Fran is struggling, having lost three straight heading into their bye week. I prefer to stay away from teams coming off a bye with my starting QB unless its a must-stat QB. San Francisco despite the losing streak held two of the last three opposing QBs to fewer than 20 points, (Aaron Rodgers 19 points and Kyler Murray 13.7 points). Wentz is a sit for me in this one.

Daniel Jones – New York Giants

Daniel Jones and I have a rocky fantasy past. I liked him when he was terrible, hated him when he was good, and we have never really been able to get on the same page. After his hot start to the season, I found myself falling for him again. In typical Daniel Jones fashion when I start to feel again, he crushes my soul.

In fairness to DJ, after the shot he took to the head that knocked him out of Week 5, I’m not sure he should have even been out there in Week 6. Well he was and he delivered 7 fantasy points. Entering Week 7, Jones and what is left of his offense face the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers defense has been accommodating to Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, and Jalen Hurts, in recent weeks, but Daniel Jones simply isn’t on the same level as the Cousins and Prescott and he doesn’t have the legs that Hurts does. Sit Daniel Jones this week.

3. Running Backs

Start

Darrell Henderson – Los Angeles Rams

Last week I listed Darrell Henderson as a start and he delivered with 24.70 PPR points and a RB6 week. Henderson has made the most of the opportunity afforded to him when Cam Akers tore his Achilles this offseason. Season to date Hendo sits at RB13,and his points per game of 18.2 have him sitting in 9th. Keep Henderson in your starting lineup this week in a juicy matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Lions are allowing over 100 rushing yards and a touchdown a game to opposing RBs. The 32.2 fantasy points they allow to the position, and the 12 touchdowns is second worst in the league. Darrell Henderson would be a start in a normal week. During the byepocalypse he’s a start with confidence.

Damien Harris – New England Patriots

Damien Harris was questionable entering Week 6 with a rib injury. Week 6 turned out to be his best outing of the season scoring 17.8 fantasy points in a loss to the Cowboys. This week Harris and Co. get the New York Jets who have surrendered the most fantasy points to running backs on a per-game basis this season. Don’t over think it, start Damien Harris.

Sit

Elijah Mitchell – San Francisco 49ers

Elijah Mitchell surprised us all this season by earning the nod over Trey Sermon. Mitchell dominated both the snaps and touches in the Niners backfield before their bye week.

Entering Week 7 with what feels like half the league on bye, there will be a tendency to start Mitchell this week against the Colts. If you have the option to sit him, you should. The matchup versus Indy isn’t a good one. The Colts have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing RBs, (18.2). The list of backs they have faced this season includes, Chris Carson, Derrick Henry and Darrell Henderson. If at all possible this rookie RB is on my bench

Khalil Herbert – Chicago Bears

Speaking of rookie RBs on my bench, enter Khalil Herbert. Herbert has done very well for the Bears since the injury to David Montgomery. IN the two games post Monty, Herbert has totaled 172 yards on 37 carries and scored a touchdown. In Week 5 he put up 7.5 points and in Week 6, he improved to 19.20. His 26.70 PPR points the past two weeks are good enough for RB21.

The problem I have with starting Herbert this week is threefold. 1. He doesn’t catch passes. In those two contests he has 3 targets 3 catches for 15 yards. 2. Damien Williams (Covid List), could return this week, and if he does he will eat into Herbert’s touches. 3. The matchup against Tampa is terrible. The Bucs have allowed an average of 42 rushing yards a week, and only one score all year. Avoid Khalil Herbert this week.

4. Wide Receiver

Start

Jaylen Waddle – Miami Dolphins

I liked Jaylen Waddle coming out of Alabama this season, and six weeks into his rookie season, I remain a fan. Jaylen Waddle has been solid to start his rookie season. Through the first six weeks of his pro career he sits at WR27, and he is averaging 13.9 PPR points per game. His overall standing as well as his average points per game took a nice step forward in Week 6. Waddle scored twice in London on route to 29 points and a WR4 finish.

It is currently looking like both DeVante Parker and Preston Williams are trending towards being out on Sunday, and Will Fuller remains on IR. Truth be told if Parker and Williams are active, I still feel good about starting Waddle this week. With Tua under center the majority of plays in this offense are going to occur near the line of scrimmage, aka Waddle’s wheelhouse. Waddle has scored at least 16 PPR points in the two games where Tagovailoa has finished, and this is a good matchup against the Falcons, who have allowed five receivers to score at least 16 PPR points this season.

Allen Robinson – Chicago Bears

I have listed Allen Robinson as a sit for the past two weeks, and I was right both times. In Week 5, A-Rob was WR59, and last week he was WR47. Season to date, Robinson is WR54 averaging 8.4 PPR points a game. Well enough is enough, look for Allen Robinson to give you a startable week resembling what you thought you were drafting this season.

The main reason for my renewed optimism is I am anticipating the best game of Justin Fields career this week. We know you can’t run on Tampa, and to hang with them you need to air it out. The Bucs are the the 4th worst fantast defense against the QB and the 8th worst against the WR. Tampa has allowed on average 41 PPR points a game to opposing wide receivers. I like Fields, and Mooney in addition to Allen Robinson this week. I know its not a comfortable start, but its a start you should make nonetheless.

Sit

Henry Ruggs – Las Vegas Raiders

I am still of the opinion that the loss of Jon Gruden is a good thing for the league and a bad thing for the Las Vegas Raiders offense. I know they looked good last week, but when the adrenaline wears off, reality tends to set in.

Ruggs had three catches for 97 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 6 against the Broncos, his best fantasy day since Week 2 versus the Steelers. The Eagles are a more difficult matchup that one might think. They have been tough on Calvin Ridley< Amari Cooper, DJ Moore and Mike Evans. The most one of those top-12 WRs has posted this season was 10.1 by Ridley in Week 1. I believe the Raiders struggle on Sunday and I would prefer to sit all of them not named Darren Waller. Ruggs at best is a desperation flex this week in my opinion.

Tee Higgins – Cincinnati Bengals

Tee Higgins averaged just under 16 PPR points the first two weeks of the season, (15.9). He missed Week 3 with a shoulder injury and since retuning to the lineup has averaged 8.8 points a game. The most disappointing outing on the season was last week’s 7.4 against the rather giving Detroit Lions. Sunday he gets the Ravens who have been the 5th toughest defense against the wide receiver.

5. Tight End

Start or Sit These Players on Sunday to Win Week 7 Fantasy
Start or Sit These Players on Sunday to Win Week 7 Fantasy

Start

Kyle Pitts – Atlanta Falcons

The last time we saw Kyle Pitts was in London as my Start of the Week. In week 5, Pitts turned 10 Matt Ryan targets into 9 receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown. Pitts finished the week as TE3 with 26.9 points. After 6 weeks (5 games), the rookie sits at TE10 with an average of 12.2 PPR points per game.

Through six weeks, the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta’s opponent this week have surrendered an average of 14.2 points and 3 touchdowns to the position. In a game with an over/under of 47.5 I like Pitts to find the end zone once again and finish ad a top-5 TE. I am starting him with confidence this week.

Zach Ertz – Arizona Cardinals

Normally I would suggest you shy away from a player that 10 days before was playing for another team. The reality here is Zach Ertz couldn’t have picked a better week to join the Cardinals because their matchup with the Texans is a beauty.

The Texans allow the third most points to the opposing TE, (18.7/game). In the past three games against Buffalo, New England and Indianapolis, Houston has allowed four touchdowns to the position. Kyler Murray has gotten two big games out of Maxx Williams this season with at least 16 PPR points, so he should have the opportunity to help Ertz make a splash in his Cardinals debut.

Sit

Evan Engram – New York Giants

Evan Engram could very well benefit from all the injuries on the Giants. The reality is hew has had the same opportunity for weeks now and hasn’t delivered. Engram has appeared in four games for New York this season, and in each of them the Giants were missing key components of the offense. In his four games, Engram has still failed to score a touchdown, and his best fantasy week has been 9.5 PPR points.

The matchup this week versus Carolina is a good one. The Panthers have allowed a TE to score in three straight and have given up 12 PPR points a game to the position, Good matchup or not, I just can’t trust Engram here and as a result he is a sit.

Robert Tonyan – Green Bay Packers

Robert Tonyan was a touchdown machine in 2020. Thus far in 2021, he has just one touchdown on the season and one game with more than four targets. In his other five games, Tonyan has scored a combined nine PPR points.

This week the Packers face Washington, and the one thing the Football Team defense has done well this season is limit the TE position. WFT has allowed just one touchdown to a tight end this season, (Dawson Knox). They have kept Jared Cook, Kyle Pitts and Travis Kelce out of the end zone, and have allowed on average 13.6 points per game to the position. Tonyan does nothing after the catch so unless he scores, starting him will be a waste of time.
