NFL Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire Adds
We have no byes this week, but we do have another round of them next week before the playoffs start in most leagues. Despite how 2020 has been for most of us, I hope you are able to relax and safely enjoy some time with friends and family this holiday week and weekend, whether safely in person or through social distancing. Remember to get your lineups in for the early games, and don’t have guys that play in the Thursday games in our flex spots for optimal flexibility if injuries arise on the weekend. Anyway, here are my NFL Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire Adds!
*Please note: Players listed are in no particular order for waiver preference.
Week 12 NFL Bye Weeks
None
3. Linebackers
Harvey Langi, Linebacker, New York Jets
Ownership: FleaFlicker 5%, Yahoo 0%
Once Avery Williamson was traded someone else had to step in, and so far it has been Harvey. The past two weeks he has averaged 94% of the defensive snaps and has had 17 solos and 4 assists, for 9.50 points a game. This is great steady production (granted over a small sample size) but beggars can’t be picky in 2020. The Jets coaching staff could always change things up, but for a guy who should be free in most leagues, this sort of production, even if it only lasts for a few more weeks, is hard to turn down.
Christian Kirkey, Linebacker, Green Bay Packers
Ownership: FleaFlicker 52%, Yahoo 10%
Kirksey should be higher owned than he is, so I suspect that many teams dropped him while he was hurt. After working his way back in Week 10 against Jacksonville (4 solos and 3 assists) he had a great Week 11 with 6 solos, 5 assists, 1 PD and 1 INT. This week brings Chicago, who only give up the 5th fewest points to opposing linebackers, but this is more of a “rest of the year” add. Kirksey should be owned in any decent sized league, so if he has not been claimed in your league, go get him.
Nicholas Morrow, Linebacker, Las Vegas Raiders
Ownership: FleaFlicker 18%, Yahoo 1%
This one is contingent on Cory Littleton not playing, but with him out the past two weeks Morrow has had a 100% snap share and 10 solos, 3 assist, 1 sack, 3 PD and 1 forced fumble, good for slightly over 10 points a game. The Falcons in Week 12 are not a great match-up for opposing linebackers, but if Littleton is out again he will make a decent LB3 with upside play.
Will Compton, Linebacker, Tennessee Titans
Ownership: FleaFlicker 0%, Yahoo 0%
The IDP injury big strikes again, this time knocking out Jayon Brown for the rest of the season. Once Brown went out Compton ended with a 51% snap share and 3 solos with 3 assists. He looks to be the next man up, and while he won’t be a world beater in Brown’s absence, Compton is a worthy pick-up to be a spot starter or LB 3/4 for you the rest of the way.
2. Defensive Backs
Ashtyn Davis, Safety, New York Jets
Ownership: Fleaflicker 6%, Yahoo 0%
If Paul from our IDP show wrote this article, he would be talking about how he was right about Davis getting playing time. He isn’t writing this, and it did take awhile, but after only reaching a high snap share of 32% prior to week 8, for the past three weeks Davis has had a snap share of either 99% or 100%. Over that time he has had 15 solos, 6 assists, 1 PD, 1 TFL and 1 fumble recovery. If he is available, Davis is a great pick-up for the rest of the season and going forward in dynasty leagues.
CJ Gardner-Johnson, Safety, New Orleans Saints
Ownership: Fleaflicker 30%, Yahoo 2%
The artist formerly known as Chauncey Gardner-Johnson has had two great weeks in the past five (14.50 in Week 8 and 17.00 in Week 10), one ok one (5.00 in Week 11) and one bad one (1.50 in Week 9) on a 92% snap share. This is good enough for DB 9 during that time, and in Week 12 the Saints face the Broncos who give up the most points to opposing safeties.
Justin Reid, Safety, Houston Texans
Ownership: Fleaflicker 47%, Yahoo 14%
Reid has decent ownership already, and has played nearly 10% of the snaps for Houston this year; he is our DB 21 right now. As I have heard from some people who read this, some of my dives are a bit too deep for the average IDP league, so I am adding Reid in this week. Detroit gives up the 8th most points to opposing safeties this year, so if he happens to be available in your league, he is a great add and start!
Ronald Darby, Cornerback, Washington Football Team
Ownership: Fleaflicker 5%, Yahoo 0%
Another player for our own Paul here, with a former FSU Seminole, BCS National Champion and Super Bowl Champion. Darby averages a snap count share in the 90s, and although he averages under 5 points a game, he is coming off a game against Cincinnati that saw him get 5 solos, 1 assist, 4 PD and 1 fumble recovery. In Week 12 he faces Dallas in a rivalry game; on top of that, Dallas gives up the 7th most points to opposing cornerbacks.
1. Defensive Linemen
Josh Sweat, Defensive End, Philadelphia Eagles
Ownership: FleaFlicker 47%, Yahoo 2%
It is starting to feel like Paul week here on our waiver wire adds, as we have another Seminole. We mentioned Sweat once this year, but this is another nice spot for him. It is unclear if starter Derek Barnett with play this week with a knee injury, and Sweat took over for him in Week 11 when he exited. Sweat ended the week with 5 solos, 1 assist, 2 TFL and 1 sack. Week 12 brings a great matchup against Seattle, who give up the 6th most points to opposing defensive ends. I like him less if Barnett plays of course, but I think in the right situation I would start him even if Barnett plays.
Lawrence Guy, Defensive End, New England Patriots
Ownership: FleaFlicker 10%, Yahoo 2%
Guy is not a high upside play, but he does have a decent floor, averaging 5.63 points a game over the last four he has played. The Patriots face Arizona in Week 12, and the Cardinals give up the 1th most points to opposing defensive ends. You probably have better options on your wire, but as the season drags on and we try to find different names for you to look at each week, sometimes a play with a nice floor is just what you need. If you have Sit/Start questions, ask us on Twitter, Discord or Facebook!
Angelo Blackson, Defensive End, Arizona Cardinals
Ownership: FleaFlicker 1%, Yahoo 0%
This is your deep league, shot in the dark of the week. Blackson has had an uptick of playing time the past few weeks to a 58% average, and over that time has 4 solos, 4 assists, 2 TFL and 1 sack, good for a 5 points a week average, and that is with no production or points in Week 9. The Patriots don’t give up a ton of points to opposing defensive ends (13th fewest this year), but if injuries have you in a pinch this week, I like him as a spot start for deep leagues.
Kenny Clark, Defensive Tackle, Green Bay Packers
Ownership: FleaFlicker 27%, Yahoo 7%
I’d argue that Clark should be owned more in even non-defensive tackle required leagues, but perhaps having only played in 7 games this year and a points per game average under 4.00 has some people souring on him. If so, this is your chance to take advantage of it. Coming off a game with 5 solos, 1 assist, 1 TFL and 1 sack the Packers face the Bears who give up the 3rd most points to opposing defensive tackles. I really like Clark as a play this week, regardless of any specifics required across defensive lines in your league.
