As the 2022 NFL Draft draws near, we wanted to help you understand the prospects that are potentially hearing their names called in Las Vegas this Spring. Up next, we’re talking Notre Dame safety, Kyle Hamilton. We will give you an idea of who the player is and how they’ve looked so far, as well as potentially where they’ll go in the NFL Draft.

Hamilton’s been a top prospect since high school, where he attended Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a 4-star prospect leading to his time with Notre Dame, a time in which if you love numbers, he was rated by PFF between 76 and 80 in each of his three seasons with the Fighting Irish. When you think about a safety, he’s got a perfect size/speed combo, and if you like 247Sports, they comped him to Kam Chancellor, which says a lot. At 6’4″ and around 220 lbs., Hamilton is a force to be reckoned with in the secondary and can be a ballhawk as well, nabbing 8 interceptions in his three years at Notre Dame.

Whether it’s big plays against FSU, where he nabbed two interceptions or strong performances against Virginia, Purdue, or Boston College, Kyle Hamilton was a playmaker and leader in that secondary. He’s as durable as they come, logging 421, 580 and 439 snaps from 2019-2021, and played plenty of those snaps closer to the line against the run or in pass coverage. When you dig into the PFF grades for Hamilton, you begin to see a player that has developed in his tackling and has been consistently strong in his pass coverage skills.

Kyle Hamilton
Kyle Hamilton: 2022 NFL Draft's Best Defensive Player? 6

Kyle Hamilton is a dynamic defender who doesn’t have to be put into a specific scheme to succeed, he’s one of the most athletic safeties anyone’s seen in the draft in some time and looks to be a top 5-10 pick in the draft. Because of his ability to cover all over the field, literally all 32 teams could be in play for Hamilton’s abilities, and in turn would benefit from him as a day one starter on any team. Grades from the big companies don’t show the whole story for Hamilton; if you pop the tape in you see a player who can shoot the gaps with ease and make a play anywhere on the field. NFL teams go into the draft looking for elite young talent to help build the core of their teams, so look no further than Kyle Hamilton.
