New York Jets disgruntled star Jamal Adams is on the move to the Pacific Northwest
Adams got his wish, as the Seahawks posted on their official Twitter this afternoon that they have acquired the Jets Safety and a future 4th round selection, in exchange for Bradley McDougald, two 1sts and a 3rd round selection over the next two years. Adams, the former top 10 pick has been vocal about his desires to be traded for some time now, and from a fantasy perspective the landing spot is as good as one can expect for him! In Seattle, you can easily make the case he fills the role vacated by Kam Chancellor and one the team had yet to truly fill, an enforcer who is a tackle machine. Pairing Jamal Adams with Quandre Diggs gives the Seahawks a secondary very similar in skill to what they had with the legion of boom years ago.
For the Jets, they received a haul and for a team rebuilding its a near perfect return. McDougald, though he is entering his age 29 season, is more than capable of starting and comes with an expiring contract which could’ve been a salary dump for the ‘Hawks. Most likely, rookie 3rd round pick Ashtyn Davis can position himself for an increased role in Gregg Williams defense, if he can transition quickly, otherwise there are more than suitable starters in Marcus Maye, Matthias Farley and McDougald.
From and IDP Perspective, this really helps Adams’ stay in the top 10 overall IDP in my mind, and gives a slight bump to Maye because he’s the only true proved starter for the Jets. This will also helps the playmaking Diggs, as teams will have a hard time trying to game plan against this dynamic duo. If you didn’t own Adams already, you’re probably not getting him cheap, easily a 1st or more honestly I’d just target someone else because you can find solid safeties at a cheaper price (IE: Jabrill Peppers).
