High School

Ian Book played high school football at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, California. Book was a three-year starter and he helped Oak Ridge win double-digit games twice, and made a name for himself as a passer with enticing dual-threat ability. He originally committed to Washington State but later changed and committed to Notre Dame.

College

Book sat behind Brandon Wimbush throughout the 2017 season, and in limited game action he completed 46 of 75 attempts for 456 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. During the 2018 Citrus Bowl, Book came off the bench and led the Irish to a 21–17 victory over LSU. Book took over as Notre Dame’s starting QB during his sophomore season and continued as a started for the Fighting Irish through his 2020 senior season.

In 2020, Book helped take the Fighting Irish to their second CFB playoff appearance. He finished his senior year completing 228 of 353 passes for 2,830 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. In addition to his work in the passing game, Book added 116 carries for 485 yards and 9 touchdowns. In total during his career at Notre Dame, Book threw for 8,948 yards and ran for another 1,517 while totaling 89 touchdowns.

NFL

Ian Book is another dual threat quarterback available in the 2021 NFL Draft. Book is very athletic, and he possess the abilty to extend plays with his legs. This is a positive but also can be seen as an area of opportunity in his game. Book projects as a day 3 draft selection and likely is destined for a backup role at the next level.

Our evaluators at RotoHeat are mixed when it comes to the potential of Book. Some like the mobility and others are concerned with his passing abilty. We encourage you to visit rookiedraftguide.com and review the film our team watched in order to form your own opinion prior to your rookie drafts.
