Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021

In this article, we are going to cover the Gardner Minshew fantasy outlook for 2021. We will share where we think he will rank amongst all quarterbacks in 2021. Should you buy, hold or sell? Will Gardner Minshew be more or less valuable in 2022? Do we think he is going to be a league winner, weekly starter, flex play, spot starter, dark horse or dart throw? Included is all of this as well as personal opinions of the seven people that participated from the RotoHeat staff.

Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021: What Is His Weekly Playability?

Even with the trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Philadelphia Eagles, we do not believe that Minshew will be much for your fantasy teams this year. He will be a third stringer or back-up to start the year, and most of the team figures that he will stay that way. Four of us did see him as a darkhorse for fantasy value in the event Hurts gets hurt, as he did have value in Jacksonville last year when he started, but that was about it.

The general consensus of the team is summed with this comment “He went from backup spot to backup spot, so nothing really changes. Minshew might become a spot starter if Jalen Hurts goes down with injury and that would only be in SuperFlex leagues.”

Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021: More, Same or Less Valuable in 2022 Dynasty Offseason?

Currently Gardner is being undrafted in RotoHeat SF Dynasty ADP, and he is QB 56 in Fantasy Pros PPR Draft Positional ADP. Those who see him as a back-up right now feel that he will be a back-up going forward and feel his value will stay where it already is. That was about half of our group looking at Gardner.

Another (about) half of us feel that he while he has a shot to start at some point this year, that will not be the case long-term, and you should be looking to sell now to take advantage of that difference.

Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021: Buy, Sell or Hold?

Five of the seven of us feel that this is a great chance to sell Minshew. There is a decent-sized group of analysts (outside of this team clearly) that feel Minshew may end up starting for the Eagles this year, but does not have real long-term starter value. This creates value to sell now if so inclined. As one member said “In dynasty I would sell if someone thinks he could overtake Hurts.”

Hold: 1
Sell: 5

Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021: Where Will He Rank vs. All Quarterbacks?

Three of us had him in the QB 49+ range, one in QB 37 – QB 48, two in QB 32 -QB 36 and one in the QB 25 – QB 31 range. This makes sense given the previous comments on how most do not think he is likely to start this year. Those that have him a bit higher think he will get some starts due to a Hurts injury or Hurts being pulled due to poor play, but even then he is back-end QB2 at best. Given that he is likely not a long-term NFL starter, you can probably find a better back-end QB elsewhere.

High: 25
Low: 49+

Gardner Minshew Fantasy Outlook 2021: Conclusion

The team as a whole does think that there is much that has changed for Gardner despite the new team. Most of us feel he is still a long-term back-up that may be worth holding onto in dynasty leagues, but more likely is worth a seller to the Hurts owner, or someone who believes he could take over for an inefficient Hurts this season.
