Eagles Release WR Alshon Jeffery

The Eagles announced on Wednesday the release of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. Jeffery joined the Eagles in 2017 after posting a pair of 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Jeffery failed to match his Bears productivity during his 5 seasons in Philadelphia, often missing time due to injury. He appeared in 16 games in just one of his five campaigns as a member of the Eagles. In 46 games as an Eagle, Jeffery totaled 171 catches, 2,237 yards, and scored 21 touchdowns.

Jeffery helped deliver the franchise’s first Super Bowl title, setting the team record for most receiving yards (219) and touchdowns (3) in a postseason. He posted two touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game victory over the Minnesota Vikings and scored another in the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots.

The release of Alshon Jeffery is yet another move the Eagles have made this offseason as they attempt to reshape the organization. The Eagles previously fired Head Coach Doug Pederson and traded former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts.
