DeVante Parker 2020 Dynasty Outlook
DeVante Parker went to Louisville where he posted 2,775 yards on 156 receptions and 33 TDs in his 4 years there. Outside of his injured senior year, Parker led the Cardinals in TDs his first 3 seasons with them. He earned First Team All-ACC his junior year and Second Team All-ACC his senior year having only played 6 games. In those 6 games he averaged 142.5 yards per game.
With the 14th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville.
After his first 4 seasons, Parker was seen as a bust to many as his best finish in those 4 years was WR50. Then came the 2019 season where he popped off for 1,202 yards on 72 receptions and 9 TDs. With a WR11 finish, he finally lived up to his first round selection back in 2015. Is he just a 1 hit wonder, or is there more of this for him in 2020?
I don’t have many bold takes that I get right, but I drafted DeVante Parker in the late rounds last year as my sleeper. Not only did it pay off, but I expect another 1,000 yard season from him this year. I don’t expect him to be a WR1 again this season by any means, but I do think you can count on a WR2 finish. The midseason hype is dead and gone with people writing him off again, so take advantage of that!
DeVante Parker Dynasty Outlook – Beyond 2020
Looking beyond 2020, I’m optimistic with the future of DeVante Parker. He’s only 27 years old, and the average age for WR’s to fall off is 31. Look for 3 more years of WR2/3 numbers from Parker.
The main thing to monitor with him is the presence of Preston Williams who led the team in receptions and yards before he tore his ACL. He did only average 8 ppg in the first 8 weeks while Williams was on the field. In the remaining 8 weeks he averaged nearly 14 ppg, while posting 27.9 points in one of those weeks.
Despite the stats, I still love Parker’s talent and chemistry with current QB, Fitzmagic.
According to the RotoHeat team, DeVante Parker’s ADP is #74 overall and #36 among WRs in PPR formats. His value in picks in both 1QB and SuperFlex is a mid to late 1st rounder. 1QB is more like the 1.07 or 1.08 and SuperFlex is closer to 1.09 or 1.10.
In 1QB leagues, players comparable in value to DeVante are Henry Ruggs III, Chris Carson, Christian Kirk, T.Y. Hilton, Tee Higgins, Michael Gallup and Devin Singletary. I’m split on all the players here except Singletary who I don’t see as a long term option in Buffalo and may not even be the short term option. Though the rest would be even, Chris Carson stands out the most to me because he is basically a guaranteed double digit performance.
The player with similar value to Parker in SuperFlex leagues is T.Y. Hilton. Austin Hooper, Zack Moss, Laviska Shenault, Bryan Edwards, Brandon Aiyuk and Marlon Mack are the others. I’m not buying Hooper or Mack. Moss, Shenault, Edwards and Aiyuk are guys I’m only taking if I’m in rebuild mode because Parker is your best bet for those who are win now.
