NFL

Bijan Robinson enters the 2023 NFL Draft as a projected first-round selection. He will enter fantasy rookie drafts of all formats as the consensus first-overall selection. In the four seasons that I have been studying rookies entering the draft, Bijan is head and shoulders above any prospect I had previously reviewed.

Robinson’s lateral agility and elusiveness are special. He plays with great pace and balance and frequently makes defenders miss in tight, confined spaces. His balance is next level and it plays a significant part in his success because even when defenders are able to make contact with him, he tends to bounce off of them and continues to work up the field to pick up positive yardage.

In addition to his exceptional abilities as a ball carrier, he is an exceptional pass-catcher. Robinson ran every route at Texas, and at times motioned out of the backfield or lined up outside. On plays where Robinson is asked to stay in and block, he displayed the ability to effectively pick blitzes and impede those attacking his quarterback. The combination of his receiving skills and pass protection makes Robinson a rarity in today’s game — a true three-down running back.
