Antonio Gandy-Golden was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft at the 142nd overall pick.

Gandy-Golden spent four seasons at Liberty, a private evangelical Christian university in Lynchburg, Virginia. His first two seasons at Liberty they were a FCS school, and they moved to the FBS in 2018 playing as an independent. In two seasons in the FBS with the Flames, he racked up 2,433 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns including a 1,396 yard, 10 touchdown 2019 season. He leaves Liberty as the best wide receiver to ever wear the uniform.

Being the greatest WR in Liberty school history is one thing, but being the best WR in Clemson, Alabama, or Ohio State history is another. It’s a straight uphill battle for small school prospects looking to excel at the professional level. It’s not impossible, but it’s harder to excel at the pro level when you have spent your entire college career playing against lesser talent than those in your draft class.

Antonio Gandy-Golden should have the opportunity to become a situational role WR at the NFL level. He is a below-average route runner who struggles against press coverage. He projects to be a jump ball specialist downfield and in the red zone, which should serve him well in Washington–a team in dire need of a tall end zone threat.

Entering 2020, Antonio Gandy-Golden sits deep down the depth chart behind the likes of Terry McLaurin, Kelvin Harmon, Steven Sims Jr. and Cody Latimar.

At this stage of the offseason, AGG is far from a lock to be a member of the Redskins when the season begins. Cody Latimar’s recent arrest may provided AGG with the break he needs to make the club, however. Latimar is facing five charges including felony illegal discharge of a firearm and certain suspension if he is not released outright.

Antonio Gandy-Golden Dynasty Outlook – Beyond 2020

Gandy-Golden’s value into 2021 and beyond is directly linked to 2020. If he lands a spot on the Redskins in 2020 and delivers at all, it certainly helps his odds of being fantasy relevant the remainder of his career. If he doesn’t, well, the odds of him ever becoming viable are further diminished.

Value

Gandy-Golden’s current ADP is 175th overall and as the 74th ranked WR. His rookie ADP is 34th, and he is the 17th overall WR.

I currently have Edwards ranked 44th in my rookie rankings. He is my 14th ranked rookie WR, and Gandy-Golden failed to make my top 200 in 1QB Dynasty rankings. The RotoHeat consensus rankings have him as the 29th rookie off the board. My 44th ranking is the lowest of the 6 team members, while 22nd is the highest.

I believe that Gandy-Golden lacks big school pedigree and draft capital to get the opportunity he needs to make it at the NFL level. This is a player that I am going to avoid unless I am into the late third round of my rookie drafts.
