2021 NFL Draft Pick 60: Saints Select Pete Werner

With the 60th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Pete Werner was drafted by the New Orleans Saints.

A four star recruit for the 2017 recruiting class, Pete played in 39 games in his four years at Ohio State. At the end of his collegiate career he had 185 tackles (111 solo), 16 TFL, four sacks, 13 passes defended, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Fantasy Implications

The Saints needed long-term help at linebacker, as the spot next to Demario Davis and Zack Baun was side open; Kwon Alexander has not been resigned and is recovering from another injury. Werner has good size, power and acceptable athleticism, but may not have enough to excel in coverage for today’s NFL. If he starts right away he may have some deep league appeal, but is likely not someone you will want to start. He would be a later draft pick in most IDP leagues.
