2021 NFL Draft Pick 129: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Select Jaelon Darden

With the 129th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Jaelon Darden was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jaelon Darden made 2019 First team All-Conference USA and was the 2020 Consensus All-American. He spent 4 years at North Texas where he racked up 2,782 yards and 38 TDs on 230 receptions. He added 7 carries for 27 yards and was a skilled kick and punt returner.

Fantasy Implications

Jaelon Darden was a sleeper I had before the 2021 NFL Draft, but the Buccaneers landing spot is brutal. He’ll be stuck behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson among others such as O.J. Howard, Rob Gronkowski and Giovani Bernard. He’ll be buried on the depth chart for 2021.

Assuming some of these guys will move to other teams or retire, he may see some reps, but not enough to be fantasy relevant. He’s most likely going to be a kick and punt returner for Tampa Bay.
