2021 NFL Draft Pick 150: Philadelphia Eagles Select Kenneth Gainwell

With the 150th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Kenneth Gainwell was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2019, Gainwell racked up yardage with 1,459 yards on the ground and 610 yards through the air. He had a total of 17 TDs, while his 51 receptions is something fantasy managers love to see. He’s a dual threat RB and that earned him the 2019 First Team All-AAC and AAC Rookie of the Year honors. He ended up sitting out the 2020 season due the pandemic. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Memphis alumni Antonio Gibson, Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard.

Fantasy Implications

I’ve already seen a lot of people on Twitter out on Gainwell landing in Philadelphia, but I think this is great for him. He’s a much better version of Boston Scott and becomes the new 3rd down back and weapon for Jalen Hurts to utilize.

He’ll back Miles Sanders up and will learn a lot from Sanders. He’s got high-end RB3 upside on the PPR side of fantasy and a RB4 floor. He’s a guy I’ll be targeting in the late 2nd round to 3rd rounds of Rookie Drafts. He offers a season or 2 of RB2 or maybe even low-end RB1 upside sometime in his career with his elite catching ability.
