In a surprising, yet strong move the Seattle Seahawks claimed star wide receiver Josh Gordon on waivers today, the news coming via NFLTradRumors.co. The 28 year old Gordon seemingly was phased out of the Patriots offense, as they had little reason for deep threat when you check the next gen stats and see Brady near the bottom of completed air yards with 5.91.

In Seattle, Gordon will have a much better chance for big plays with Russell Wilson and his 7.7 completed air yards statistics. Wilson, who’s completing 68% of his passes will have arguably the best receiving corp of his career, with Gordon joining Tyler Lockett and rookie DK Metcalf.

From a fantasy perspective, this could hurt Metcalf in the short term but after the loss of Will Dissly, you could see the Hawks’ were in need of another receiving option, and Gordon is a nice addition for their playoff run (and potentially yours too!). I wouldn’t go out spending big, thinking he will be a WR1 but he will have some up and down weeks as the season moves closer to fantasy playoffs.
